randalb89 I only use this tag because I don't really like male vocalists. And everyone notices. If someone only listens to male vocalists it's all fine and dandy, but if you don't people think you are weird. I use this tag to show that I like female vocalists more, not to put them down.

pringa the way i see it, this tag is just about recognising female vocalists. its true that a female voice will be somewhat different to a male singing. this is all that this tag is recognising imo. i don't believe this is evidence of sexism as others have suggested. the reason that male vocalists aren't tagged is because they seem to make up the majority of vocalists present in music, not because there in someway superior or otherwise. (i dont use tags on this site at all by the way, i ended up here because i've become interested in female vocalists and was looking for new music)

nigel_vs_shark I really resent this tag; no one seems to see the need for a "male vocalists" tag, so why this one? The sex of a musician shouldn't matter, and what sex that person is is, in most cases, immediately apparent upon listening, or easily remedied upon the tiniest research. This tag is one of the many subtle signs of sexism still apparent in our society, and the outlook that produced it needs to be remedied if any proper equality is to be produced.
