The people that hate on this tag are simply the people that don't understand or respect what the tagging system is for. A tag does NOT have to be a genre. A tag can be anything that helps categorize various artists and songs by a common link, which is USUALLY a genre, however, the tag system allows for much for versatility. "Female Fronted Metal" will find you a lot of bands in both the symphonic and/or gothic metal genres, and it will also span to other genres of metal with female vocalists. Guess what? A lot of people actually enjoy the female vocals of metal and would like to find other metal bands with female lead singers that are not restricted to one genre of metal. To simply say "this tag sucks," shows a lot of ignorance and disrespect for the female vocalists of metal. [7]

For me, I find that it is not even accurate as singers are often far from being the front person in metal music as it is often the guitarist or keyboardist. It' just feels like the diversity quota hire tag with its only value being convenience. "(sub-genre) metal with female singers / feminine vocals" is a far more accurate and less offensive tag. It's still not completely inclusive but a far better starting point.

The people that hate on this tag are simply the people that don't understand blah blah etc [6]. I agree with that comment but can't be bothered to copy-paste it, lol. Really though the amount of butthurt on this page is appalling.

Useless tag (at least now). Look at the list of bands - the only one REAL metal band is Warlock, other are pop music. Where the f@ck are Chastain, Hellion, Holy Moses, Detente, Znowhite, Sentinel beast? Oh, wait, Iforgot - little kids prefer listen to modern symphonic/gothic/death/mallcore crap.

Why so much hate? Please don't hate on music that other people like. Embrace the genres you love and don't bash on what you don't like.

I wish there were more female vocalists in thrash & black metal instead of this gothic pop shit [5] The symphonic metal thing is really getting old & not really interesting [3]

I wish there were more female vocalists in thrash & black metal instead of this gothic pop shit [4] Damn I was just about to ask are there female front bands in thrash metal? Well at least not in the "gothic/symphonic metal genre? I like Demonic Christ but that't the only band I know with a female vocalist outside of the gothic metal scene. Well them and Arch Enemy but they kinda bore me.

@somemusicdude; i understand what you're saying, but when i made that comment i didn't make it with the intention of offending the men here. dick sucking doesn't have to be exclusive to homosexuals (@that shitty kitchen metal comment). maybe next time i make a reference to sucking dick ill explain more clearly that dick sucking is a euphemism for the obsession with the cock; male culture; male centered music. also since we're calling out one another on our shit here please be aware that you are a dude trying to tell me how to be a feminist. thanks.

Agreed with @witch_possessed. It's not misoginy, it's the truth. This "genre" is overated.

@Jekku666 That would be promoters who are using it because they figure it'll sell more tickets than calling it whatever genre the music actually is - and they're probably right. Anyone who knows anything about metal realizes this isn't really a genre, but it's a valid tag regardless of people using it in sexist and exploitative ways. BTW, maybe women in metal should take a cue on how to dress from a modest, respected classical performer like Sarah Brightman: http://amadeacordula.blogspot.com/2011/01/phantom-of-opera-is-here-inside-my-mind.html http://www.lunaestas.com/sarah/images/wallpapers/dive.jpg http://www.lunaestas.com/sarah/images/wallpapers/simple10.jpg okay maybe not
