New release: Churches - "Save Me"

Churches is the new recording project of Caleb Nichols, the frontman of oakland's Grand Lake, former bassist of Port O'Brien, and touring member of Waters and Release The Sunbird. On his first single, 'Save Me', Nichols teams up with WATERS frontman Van Pierszalowski and Rogue Wave drummer Pat Spurgeon. Oslo-based WATERS guitarist Nikolai Haukeland also plays. The result is two and a half minutes of melancholic, fuzzed-out power-pop, with obvious nods to heroes Smashing Pumpkins, Dinosaur Jr. and contemporaries such as Wye Oak.
'Save Me' by Churches is being self-released on bandcamp. The track will be accompanied by remixes and the original demo, and will be sold by the band using a 'pay what you want' model. Additionally, 50% of digital proceeds will go directly to 826 Seattle, a nonprofit writing and tutoring center dedicated to helping youth, ages six to 18… -

I don't know if I should be surprised or not by the fact that the albums I most anticipated turned out to be the ones I liked the most, but I kind of am. I hope this is not because I'm growing older and less open minded, but because the established artists actually created the best music. Anyways, my favorite albums of 2011:

It was a magnificent year for me, generally filled with diverse ups & downs.
Here you've got hands down the most accessible and best playlist that I could have possibly made covering the various brilliant music acts of 2011.
What I also need to point out that this is going to be my last playlist.
Thanks to everyone who's been downloading the playlists throughout the years and who's been supporting me in any kind. It's been quite a ride I gotta say.
The Best Of 2011 Compilation symbolically begins with Jo-Fo track just exactly like my first playlist that I made back in the end of 2008.

Jak co roku o tej porze zachciewa mi się muzycznych podsumowań. Jak zwykle powstaje moja prywatna lista, która śmieszy, szokuje i denerwuje innych, a uzasadnienia są totalnie „z dupy”. Ten subiektywny ranking płytowy powstaje głównie po to, abym za kilka lat mógł go przejrzeć i sam z siebie się pośmiać: „ jak mogłem czegoś takiego słuchać i w ten sposób pisać?!”. Subiektywny i dla mnie, więc po co go publikuję? Nie ukrywam, że liczę na dyskusję oraz spostrzeżenia. Może ktoś przeoczył ważne wydawnictwo płytowe? Może to ja coś przeoczyłem? Mam nadzieję, że każdy skorzysta na lekturze tekstu i ewentualnych komentarzy.
W porównaniu z rokiem 2010, przesłuchałem o około 30 płyt mniej. Przyczyniło się to tego wiele zdarzeń: awaria słuchawek, zgubienie słuchawek, awaria drugich słuchawek, oraz nieudana końcówka roku w której nałogowo słuchałem Małpy.
Również przez pewną niechęć do słuchania odkrytych zaległości w końcówce roku, nie udało mi się odrobić lekcji i w tym zestawieniu nie znajdą się płyty…
