Also, it's called Pulsar, because that's what the goddamn celestial body is called, it's a fucken magnetized, rotating neutron star. fuck, why are most people who listen to this album ignorant mouth breathers who probably still believe dinosaurs lived 6000 years ago

also, this is from a completely different school of music than Mike Oldfield. i dunno how you'd even bridge that connection, except in the superficial way of saying "well Mike Oldfield plays newage now, and so does Vangelis, so their early shit is pretty similar as well". Guess what, it's fuckin not, and I say this as a fan of both. Maybe grow some ears and learn to listen to music properly, I dunno.

goddamn, you people and your cheesiness. what the fuck is cheesy about this album? it uses some pretty badass vintage keyboards (and a fairly ridiculous number of bells and other percussion, also played by Vangelis). i don't think you quite understand how fucking awesome this album is within the context of the year it came out. there ain't nothing fucking cheesy about this. this is a classic album through and through, with way more to say than most of the shit people listen to when they think of Vangelis. 1492 and Chariots of Fire ain't got nothin on this shit, motherfuckers.

ALBEDO: The reflecting power of a planet or other non-luminous body. A perfect reflection would have an Albedo of 100%. The Earth's Albedo is 39% or 0.39.

Definitely cheesy, but not necessarily in a bad way. Reminds me more of Mike Oldfield than typical '70s electronic/ambient music.

Haha, so cheesy, but I can't help liking it somehow. And you can definitely hear precursors of Blade Runner.

early experimentally bolero type alpha and very ethereal concept album with lots of his best cutting edge stuff. His later stuff is more melodic and musak like with some exceptions. One of my favorites that I have not listened to or thought about in a long time. Thanks for the memories shouters!
