Guitar music with a strong American character, direct soundlines and striking vocals: that’s the VANDES sound. The newcomers from Nuremberg (D) quickly managed to build a respectable fan base, despite of consciously creating music against general trends.

If you’re expecting popular or eccentric behaviour, you’ve come to the wrong place. VANDES come across as being sincere and direct. Through the band’s DNA runs the helix of Jan van der Holst’s vocals. The Dutch frontman with a raw but warm tenor-voice writes ballads, melodic folk-rock and catchy up-tempo songs. The lyrics work like film scenes, are filled with longing and passion. With these ingredients, primarily instrumented acoustically, VANDES knows to captivate the listener especially in a live environment.

Jan van der Holst discovered his passion for songwriting four years ago and quickly was invited to join the Omaha Records label founded by Gisbert zu Knyphausen. In 2007 he started the 4-piece band VANDES, in 2008 the band won a voting to play at Bardentreffen Festival with 250.000 visitors and in 2009 their debut-EP “morning light” was released. In the same year the mega-seller band Silbermond and US Top-10 Act Blue October chose VANDES as their opening-act.
