mixed feeling about this track. a person speaking in italian accent and throwing some really uncool vibes. on the other side, the piano and seagulls are really soothing. almost 2 minutes for the listener to recompose his mind from the heaviness of the previus track and get ready for the next.

G39. Is "Message to Harry Manback" an actual phone message? Yep, someone left someone a threat. Yes, they actually meant it as a threat. So no, it wasn't concocted by the band. (Though the piano part was obviously added in to make it sound more like a love poem). G40. OK, so who was that message for? Who is Harry Manback? Danny had this to say about it in some interview: "Message to Harry Manback is a recording of the words of an uninvited Italian guest who came to Maynard's house one day. A so-called friend of a friend of a friend of Harry's .... Before we finally managed to figure out that nobody really knew him, he had already emptied the fridge and run up a huge phone bill. He got kicked out of the house." Harry Manback is a pseudonym for the real recipient of the message, presumably a past roommate of Maynard's: Hotsy Menshot of Green Jello.

@ComaWish Oh jeez. Tool has 65 million plays, and nearly an entire million of them are this track which isn't even a song. Not that it isn't hilarious, but still. Funny. Tool is Tool.. and now it's 1M :F

While I don't think that tool's interludes are really music or even worth listening to by any means, I really enjoy them nonetheless... it's kind of a respite in between bouts of awesomeness. It's like, ok, so we just played this awesome song for you (in this case, Forty Six & 2), now you owe it to us to listen to this message from the sponsors... it kind of gives a new angle on their music that would otherwise disturb the awesomeness if they tried to put the messages in the songs themselves.

i found it entertaining but never sad, just the balance of this ignorant italian flapping his gums, saying violent things and then the sappy dramatic piano in the background...hilarious.
