Artist Of The Week - 02/10/06
3. Okt. 2006, 21:11 von teebee
This week is Swedish outfit, The Knife.
Most famously known (or not, as the case may be) for the song
Heartbeats which was covered by Jose Gonzalez. Incidentally, both versions are good tunes...which one you'd prefer depends on what mood you are in.
The afformentioned Heartbeats is on the album Deep Cuts which is a rather groovin' CD - though most of the other songs are not really like Heartbeats. They tend to lean towards electronica dancey stuff - with lots of repeating patterns (which the brain, apparently, likes); and indeed, most of the patterns are very catchy and you'll most likely find yourself dancing (embarrassingly) along to them.
I also have their latest album, Silent Shout which is in much the same vein, though it seems to be a little bit darker - i.e. the tunes seem to have slightly less bounce to them...I really have no idea what I'm talking about. Point is, I reckon Deep Cuts is a better album, and would get you to buy/download/steal that one rather than Silent Shout.
