The Cranberries - Roses

Roses is the latest album of The Cranberries and to be honest, it is my least favourite album at the moment (together with Wake Up and Smell the Coffee). It's not that it is a completely bad album, I still like Dolores her voice and the sound of the band. It is just that overall this album sounds a bit boring and the songs seem to be too simple, too easy. What is missing is a bit of power, some energy, just a few decent rock songs. It definitely lacks a great hitsingle like Zombie, Promises, Ode to My Family, Linger or Animal Instinct. For me personally none of the songs are really leaving an impression and I doubt if any of them will end up in my top 20 list. But maybe my expectations were a bit too high up to begin with. Maybe it is impossible to bring back this great sound of the nineties, because not only the circumstances are different now, but I am different myself as well. …

The Cranberries - Bury The Hatchet: The Complete Sessions 1998-1999

I always thought Bury The Hatchet was the third album of The Cranberries and the direct successor of No Need to Argue. But apparently I switched it in my head with To the Faithful Departed, which actually is their third album. This album is their fourth, though in terms of style I would say it holds the middle between the more poppy No Need to Argue and the more alternative rock album To the Faithful Department. It's one of their best albums in my opinion, one of the heavier, more rock albums the band has made. I bought it in January 2010, but I'm sure I've listened to it before. The album cover is a bit weird, showing a gigantic eye looking down from the sky upon a naked person who is protecting himself with his arms. It looks like a kind of 'God' or 'Big Brother is watching you' idea. Though it might also refer to the 'eye of the public' which is always watching you when you're famous. …

Sábado 23 Out – The Cranberries
Eu fui com um pouquinho de receio que ela fosse antipática ou coisa do tipo. Mas que nada. Dolores foi um amor de pessoa, simpaticíssima, de uma loucura admirável. Cantou a música que o fã-clube pediu, Put Me Down, agradeceu o tempo todo, conversou bastante, recebeu os presentes, balançou a bandeira do Brasil. Morriii de inveja quando uma garota conseguiu segurar a mão dela e dizer, várias vezes, "I love you, Dolores, I love you".
Uma artista sensacional, deslumbrante.
E que gás era aquele do baterista Fergal Patrick?! E do Noel, e do Mike Hogan? Era quase de se pegar fogo. Salvation,Zombie e Promises foram o ápice. Todo mundo cantou, todo mundo pulou. Eu cantei e pulei o tanto que meu corpo aguentou.
E só de estar tão perto, noooossa. Enfim, só tem coisas boas a se falar.
Valeu tudo o que passei para estar lá. Valeu o dinheiro, valeu o aperto, valeu o calor, valeram as dificuldades. Espero que a banda tenha sentido todo esse carinho, e pensem em voltar. …

Valeu muito a pena.
Cheguei por volta das 16h30min quando não havia quase ninguém no Chev; 9 horas em pé muito bem recompensadas; uma espera de anos muito bem aproveitada; cada segundo perfeitamente apreciado. Show digníssimo.
Toda euforia, alegria, aquele sentimento indescritível que só os fãs sabem, já tomava conta de todos enquanto chovia e tentávamos nos proteger da chuva. Cantávamos as músicas e comentávamos sobre a banda e a sensação inenarrável de estar a apenas poucas horas de realizar um sonho.
Quando entramos e não havia quase ninguém dentro do Chev, não parava de passar os clipes da Roxette, Alanis Morissett, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc, sem falar no DJ Mostarda, que tinha um repertório incrível, e animou bastante o pré-show.
Eis que a banda entra e o público surtar de todas as maneiras possíveis. Particularmente, nunca senti algo parecido. Foi o momento mais lindo que vivi. …
