ASSN totally replicates the Film School—Hideout sound. Not a complaint.

the slowdive comparisons are apt. that bright-as-razors intensity, with the subtle melancholic aftertaste and whatnot. other interesting influential flavors rolling around in there too. love spirals downwards? lush? awesome.

This is a Tears Run Rings shoutbox. I am leaving a shout for Tears Run Rings. I pretty much love every song so far. You are an outstanding band writing and producing incredible music. I'm very much looking forward to future output.

You are simply rattling, my friend, and this rattle is cheap since there's not a single constructive argument to it. It's just your own outpour of negativity, which is not worth a Slowdive note! To each their own as you say. "Yellow Submarine" is a well constructed pop tune, which, however, does little to me on any level. Slowdive, on the other hand, has had an immense impact on my music perception and taste. I FUCKING LOVE THEM, OK? Are they influential? Well, why don't you go ask "Tears Run Rings" themselves since you apparently find them so incredibly original.

The entire combined Slowdive catalogue is less significant than Yellow Submarine. The combined actions of their collective lives will be less significant. Everything their children and the children of their children accomplish will amount to less.

  • SonicNursery

(@ ativke) Well, Slowdive certainly has nothing on "Yellow submarine":)

That vocal loop on "Mind The Wires"... [2] most dreamy thing I've heard in music in a long, long time. The rest of the song is cool too, but I'd love to have it minus the lead vocal track. I'd had it on repeat for days and days.

  • BaqumFM

That's an interesting opinion you have there. I really don't feel like arguing if you do or not have a decent basis for saying that Slowdive were "mediocre" but you can't deny the similarities in sound that TRR and Slowdive have. Regardless if they got directly influenced by Slowdive or not. And stop thinking that you have a right to say which band should be influential and which should not. Especially with The Beatles in your charts.

    März 2011
  • ativke

They don't sound like Slowdive. Slowdive themselves were a mediocre band that don't deserve to be considered an influence on anything. TRR constructs solid work; although, yes, with a wholly 90s perspective.

    März 2011
  • BaqumFM

It does, very Slowdive-influenced. But I fucking love Slowdive and they're not active anymore. So good music in that style is always nice.

Good music is music that needs to be discovered, unveiled. And the more you listen to it, the more you understand and love it :)

    Februar 2011
  • itsdacris

You know, it took me a while to "discover" them, I had their albums for a while, but today something happened when I listened to "Mind the wires". Something just clicked and now I'm obsessed with them. SO MANY great songs, "Inertia", "Beautiful Stranger", "Distance", "Forgotten", "Innocent", "Mind the Wires" and the list can go on and on. They are simply awesome.
