Spineshank ist eine US-amerikanische Nu-Metal-/Industrial-Rock-Band.

Spineshank wurde im Februar 1996 gegründet. Ursprünglich waren der Sänger Jonny Santos, der Gitarrist Mike Sarkisyan und Tom Decker am Schlagzeug Teil der Gruppe „Basic Enigma“. Diese war stark vom Album „Demanufacture“ geprägt, welches 1995 von Fear Factory herausgebracht worden war und somit als Auslöser der Gründung Spineshanks angesehen werden kann. Später vervollständigte der Bassist Robert Garcia die neu entstandene Band.

Die Band fand schnell Kontakt zum Gitarrist Dino Cazares von Fear Factory, der ihnen unmittelbar, nachdem er das Demo-Band gehört hatte, anbot, als Vorgruppe von Fear Factory im Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles aufzutreten. Dies führte zu anderen Auftritten mit Bands wie Coal Chamber, Snot, Soulfly, Sepultura und Danzig.

Spineshank bekam einen Vertrag beim Label Roadrunner Records. Ihr erstes Studioalbum „Strictly Diesel“ wurde im September 1998 veröffentlicht, bei dem Burton C. Bell, Sänger von Fear Factory, auf dem Track „Stain“ singt. „Height of Callousness“ wurde zwei Jahre später produziert. Es dauerte ganze drei Jahre, bis Spineshank ihr letztes Album „Self-Destructive Pattern“ veröffentlichten.

Später verließ Jonny Santos die Band und der Rest der Band suchte daraufhin nach einem neuen Sänger, der nach offizieller Verlautbarung vom 7. November 2005 mit Brandon Espinoza gefunden wurde.

    I got 3 tracks into the new album before skipping it entirely. None of the aggression from The Height of Callousness is there, nor the industrial elements or hooky riffs. The song structures are completely by-the-numbers in the worst way possible, relying on the chorus to keep the listener attached. I don't know if I'll give it another chance anytime soon.

    Personally I find the non single tracks more entertaining, as much as i love synthetic and new disease there not as good as (Cant Be) Fixed or Cyanide 2600 IMO. Although I do like the 3rd album.

    I like a few tracks from the first 2 albums, it just sounds like they spent a lot of time working on the singles, and the other album tracks sound rushed and underproduced. The third album is killer though, I've been letting it play all afternoon, just wish there was a touch more synth in their music.

    It's called an opinion. People pick ridiculous faults with everything, it's been a part of the internet since who knows long. If you don't like it then simply listen to the music and ignore all the negative comments. Saying ADA is the same as the others is like saying Windows 8 is basically the same as Windows 7. Both are different. People will complain about artists who never change as much as when artists do change. GET OVER IT!

    The newest record took awhile to grow on me but I love it. Definitely my favorite Spineshank record next to The Height of Callousness.
