whole album is perfect (with both bonus tracks) except for "fate in motion" and "blind eye halo".

If you want to be technical, this is actually poppier than Figure Number Five...but something about it has more lasting power for me. It's probably something to do with the heavier drums and better lead guitar work.

The choruses and infectious vocal melodies in this record are among some of the very best I've heard in the genre. The new album is the only record in their career that tops this, nothing even comes close. Agree or not, what a fantastic band.

Maybe it's not their greatest record but it's still really damn good looking back and at the age of 16 (about to be 17) this was like the SICKEST discovery ever. I bought it right before New Years 2007 in New York City at a Virgin Megastore (now gone) and brand new sealed it was only $1, they just had so many copies and must've been overstocked. What a blessing to find & brilliant introduction to Soilwork! I'm one of the babies who grew up on Pantera so I love crushing mid-tempo grooves.... this has that and some really amazing melodies and drumming

@DAnEmpire: It really isn't such a huge mystery when you actually think about it. Stabbing the Drama has the most radio-friendly songs, not to mention Soilwork was at the peak of it's popularity when it came out. Just because it's #1 on charts doesn't mean you have to like it. Each to their own.

....This is also the first album to feature new drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who brings a more technical approach to the band’s drumming compared to the previous two albums. WTF man ! the album had better drumming than Natural Born Chaos ??! you gotta be joking

Weird how many people are saying this is their best, I think it's probably their worst. [3]

The s/t and The Crestfallen are excellent. Stalemate and Distance are good, Nerve, Wherever Thorns May Grow and Observation Slave are ok. The rest is from bad to horrible. This record could've been much, much better than it is.

This album would have been pretty damn good if it contained like 10 times more soloing than it does. Hate the fact that Soilwork at some point didn't dare to play around with their music anymore and pretty much started to rely on "song formulas" instead...
