If you're reading this, you're probably wondering why am I writing about 2011 in January 2013. The truth is, I've been terribly busy with exams this time last year, so I kept postponing writing this article until it was so late that I actually decided to release it together with the summary of 2012.
I wrote most of the text over the year whenever I've found some time to do it, so at least it's authentic and not reminiscing of distant past.
2011 was an odd year compared to the previous three. Although the total amount of music I've listened hasn't shrunk much, it spread much wider and the result was that no band had excessive amounts of scrobbles, so even the winner would barely make top10 with such score any of the previous years. That also caused that the effect of hyping was huge as majority of the top spots were taken by bands that released new albums, played shows and an occasional newly discovered band. Stats also saw pop artists take some single wins, only confirming my genre benevolence :)
