Endelig er ventetiden over, fem år er gått siden sist. Frontfigur Anthony Kiedis har surfet og donert penger til veldedighet. Trommeslageren Chad Smith har startet superbandet Chikenfoot, samtidig som den eminente bassisten Michael Peter Balzary (eller bedre kjent som Flea) har farget håret blått, og rukket å studere musikk på den anerkjente musikklinjen på University Of Southern California. John Frusciante har pakket gitaren(e) sin og satset på solo karriere.
Bandet har dermed fått en ny tilvekst i gruppen, Josh Klinghoffer. Den tidligere frilans gitaristen har spilt med artister som John Frusciante, Gnarls Barkley og Briten PJ Harvey. Han turnerte også med RHCP etter deres siste album Stadium Arcadium ble sluppet ut, og har lenge vært et kjent fjes for de andre medlemmene.

Fué como esperaba que fuese. Un tour nuevo, nuevos temas. Uno espera que saquen temas antiguos, y se tiren canciones que no sean tan populares, masivos por la gente, pero eso es lo que ellos desean. Darle a la gente el gusto de tocar los temas más conocidos. Yo soy muy al estilo underground, -los temas mas desconocidos son los más valiosos para mí-, que en algun principio ellos fueron o comenzaron.

Eran las 4 de la tarde. Ya estaba lloviendo en partes de San José. Me disponia a ir al estadio temprano, al menos para oír si estaban ensayando. Pero eso no se logró, habia que esperar a mis amigos. En eso, se me fue toda la tarde, asi que llegué muy atrasada. Faltaba poco para las 9 de la noche, los teloneros ya habían terminado cuando llegué, -y no habia entrado al estadio aún-, esperando a parte de mis amigos comprar entradas de reventa. Seguía lloviendo bastante.

El estadio nuevo es enorme, limpio. Bien cuidado. …
