This song is ruined for me by the Tom Jones/Stereophonics cover...

Although ctd55 is wrong about everything, I suppose it makes a change from Amazing!

Interesting cover! Almost didn't recognize it until right before the chorus, very cool.

This is the squares' party anthem: it's partying as a precipitous descent into hell among the hippies and the hipsters. Our anxiety-ridden narrator is finally hanging out with life's winners; he reacts as though he's wandering through the last panel of Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights. (What do you expect from someone who turns to his mother for partying advice?) Though only standard-issue partying is happening, he approaches the house as a den of debauchery. He wanders the halls, finding examples of shocking hedonism around every corner. The sprightly, insistent music makes a fine host, pushing him along and introducing the lurid sights. Soon he's gagging on the stench of bodies and booze, and his already asthmatic bronchial tubes are gasping for oxygen in the thick, sticky air. His glasses are fogging up in the haze from sweat and heavy breathing; but, his eyes wide open with shock, he can see ghoulish human faces suspended in the smoky darkness. Sounds fun!
