Biografie

(2001 – aktuell)

Pyramaze wurde im Jahr 2001 von Gitarrist Michael Kammeyer gegründet. Die ersten anderen Musiker waren das dänische Duo Schlagzeuger Morten Sørensen (vormals Wuthering Heights) und Bassist Niels Kvist. Das nächste Mitglied war der amerikanische Keyboarder Jonah Weingarten, den Kammeyer durch das Internet kennenlernte. Dann machte sich die Band auf die Suche nach einem Sänger. Nach dem Anhören vieler Demos wählte die Band den amerikanischen Sänger Lance King (vormals Balance of Power) aus.

Die erste Live-Show der Band fand am 23. April 2004 in Minneapolis, Minnesota statt. Dann veröffentlichten sie ihr Debüt-Album Melancholy Beast im Mai 2004, gefolgt von einer Tour im Sommer 2004. Während dieser Zeit wurde der dänische Gitarrist Toke Skjønnemand Mitglied der Gruppe. Im Februar 2006 veröffentlichte die Band ihr zweites Album, Legend of the Bone Carver, ein Konzeptalbum, das sehr gut von den Fans aufgenommen wurde. Am 15. September 2006 performte die Band beim ProgPower USA VII Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. Kurz nach dieser Aufführung am 10. November 2006 wurde auf der offiziellen Website angekündigt, dass King Lance nicht mehr Sänger der Band sei. Iced Earth-Sänger Matt Barlow trat dafür an seine Stelle. Am 11. Dezember 2007, kündigte Jon Schaffer auf seiner Website an, dass Barlow wieder Iced Earth beigetreten sei. Vor kurzem wurden auf der offizielle Website von Pyramaze Statements von Matt Barlow und Michael Kammeyer veröffentlicht, die besagen, dass Barlow die Aufnahmen für das kommende Album mit dem Titel „Immortal“ beenden und sich dann einzig und allein auf die Zusammenarbeit mit Iced Earth konzentrieren würde.

    No way! "Immortal" was their best, Barlow took them to a whole new level IMO ;D "Legend Of The Bone Carver" is a masterpiece as well though, and "Melancholy Beast" is totally underrated and is just as good as the Bone Carver. Actually, the band as a whole is underrated, and is surely one of the best Prog/Power bands out there. Hopefully, a new album surfaces someday. Urban Breed is a capable singer, but I think it will be hard for them to match the quality of their first 3 albums without their lead guitarist and mastermind Michael Kammeyer, who left the band for personal reasons after "Immortal".

    Immortal was definitely the weakest album. I think Legend of the Bone Carver is an absolute beast of an album!

    Lance was great :/ Urban Breed is also good and his voice is similar to Lance's so I think the new album will be kick ass! :)

    XSMRTx, nope, Lance sang on Melancholy Beast and Legend of the Bone Carver, Barlow sang on Immortal. 2 singers, not 3. the next album will have Urban Breed singing.
