It's not their best, but it's a great one. [2]

The vinyl production on the drums and vocals for this LP is absolutely glorious and delicious.

That's kind of a strange way of looking at it. To the Nameless Dead has plenty of moments of fire and fury. It's not like they set out to create "near-perfection". What I love about every single one of their albums is that they are all seething with such raw and beautiful passion. I've never listened to a band that could toil with my emotions so strongly. I don't know anything about musical objectivity, but all of their albums are incredible to me.

Though this is probably not their best album objectively, it's undoubtedly my favourite. The fury in this one is at its most intense. To The Nameless Dead was a masterpiece, but I think that near-perfection killed it in a way. This one, though less consistent and more muddy, just has a deeper fire in it.

Oh yeah, and I do not get all the hate for The Black Hundred. I find it harsh and chilling and certainly thematically consistant, delving into the brutality of and faith or lack of in political belief systems, whether it be Soviet Communism or pre-Revolutionary Russian religio-nationalism.

My music player only allows me five stars for this album, when I say five million stars are not enough for this work. Incredible compositions, vocals, lyrics. This is a band that just gets stronger and better with every album.

After repeated listens it has begun to stand out, not only as one of Primordial's best works, and not only as one of metal's greatest albums, but as an important work of art.

Has some letdowns, but also some pure gold. It's not their best, but it's a great one.

I don't know what to feel with this album. With their previous releases I felt instantly that I was before great music, but this one needs much more plays in order to grow.

This is probably my favorite Primordial. The vocals just kill on this album, and the lyrics here are absolutely amazing. I really like the Black Hundred, unlike the guy below me :p

I think The Gathering Wilderness is still my favorite album, but this or To The Nameless Dead are close. Hell, every Primordial album is amazing. The only songs on this album that I would consider mediocre (and that is only by Primordial's standard of perfection), would be God's Old Snake, which has some moments of fireworks, but is somewhat awkward as a whole, and The Black Hundred, which feels a little unfocused. The 6 other tracks on the album are perfect and awe inspiring.
