    3. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours.
    4. The Beatles - Revolver.
    5. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell.

Kind of a moot list, as I'm absolutely obsessed with The Velvet Underground at the moment...

  • The Greats Come in Fours

    27. Nov. 2009, 12:18 von SometimeWorld

It's something i like to think about occasionally, the way i like to judge a band/artist worthy of classic status.. in my own mind at least. Four great albums back to back in a row. It's usually the absolute magic period in the band/artist's time. Everything clicks, everything works, and god damn if they can't be stopped!

Name some of your favourite "Great Fours".

These have always come to my mind first:

Pink Floyd - 1. Dark Side of the Moon 2. Wish You Were Here 3. Animals 4. The Wall - Don't get me wrong.. Atom Heart Mother, Meddle and even the great Obscured by Clouds predate them, but when it comes to fours and keeping them chronological this is really the clear choice for me.

Black Sabbath - 1. Black Sabbath 2. Paranoid 3. Master Of Reality 4. Vol. 4 - Decimatingly badass!

King Crimson - 1. In the Court of the Crimson King 2. In the Wake of Poseidon 3. Lizard 4. Islands - Man, Crimson is all over the place so naturally their "Great Four" is pretty tricky to figure. It shouldn't make sense to exclude the mighty "Red" but to include that I'd obviously have to drop off some of the essential early releases. Fact is i actually enjoy "Islands" more than the hit and miss "Starless and Bible Black", and even the solid "Larks' Tongues". Almost a completely different line-up for every one of the four, no matter.. they still rule.

Neil Young - 1. After the Gold Rush 2. Harvest 3. Time Fades Away 4. On the Beach - God damn, another highly disputable bunch. Depending who you're talking with you might as well add a "Great Eight" for Neil. Sucks to leave out "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere" & "Tonight's the Night" especially but ey, it's all in the game! "On the Beach" is definitely a desert island disc for me, easily one of my favourites of all time!

Camel - 1. Camel 2. Mirage 3. The Snow Goose 4. Moonmadness - Pure magic. Few fans would disagree with this classic "Great Four".

    -

Feel free to share some of your own favourites :]

Up until last weekend I hadn't been to a gig in 8 years so there are plenty of bands I want to see live that I listen to now. Funny how music tastes change as I only listen to a handful of those bands now. Some of them I haven't listened to in a long time, or I was forced to go to the show by my missus.

So my first show in 8 years was:

    1. Erik Mongrain - Poulton Le Fylde

I think I have missed out a few so I will add them when I remember. My memory isn't so great anymore.

  • odbijacze piętna - zawodowi.

    Iron Maiden

    Whoa.
    Wspaniali, niepokonani.
Możemy kpić z heavy patosu, koszulek, maniactwa, debilnej tematyki, specyficznej stylistyki.
Ale z Ironów kurwa nie będziemy kpić.
    Nigdy.

    Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd= stary, czyli zazwyczaj maksymalna sraka.

Można liznąć dark side, zakochać się w The Wall.

    Black Sabbath
