Ah, 2012. New year and new albums to enjoy. And what's not to enjoy, when you can buy good music dirt cheap these days?

Most listened artist was Irina with her compilation album Yhdeksän hyvää ja kymmenen kaunista 2002-2010. I got the special edition of this album, featuring two CD's and a DVD. The first disc contains all her (or, rather the band's) singles, the second one loads of rarities (and a 35min set from Tavastia) and the DVD all the music videos. Pretty much a must have for any fan, or someone who is just getting into her music. 5/5

Other major albums this month:
- Velvet Chain - Warm (1997). A typical debut album, just a bit too random collection of songs, meaning it lacks a uniform style through the whole thing. 3/5.
- Tito & Tarantula - Back Into The Darkness (2008). Their latest LP, returns the band more to the sound of their first album. 3/5
- Charlotte Sometimes - Charlotte Sometimes (EP, 2008). Nothing new here, just nice to have it in my collection.

Вот и прошёл для меня ГОД на ласте.
Отличная же оказалась штука!
Я, как порядочный музыкальный юзверь, наскробблил 45183 прослушивания. Это 124 песни в сутки! (жуть, не верится. А ведь не кажется так много).
Много чего я открыл благодаря ласту, очень доволен годом его использования.

Thu 19 Jan – Nightwish and Sat 21 Jan – Nightwish, Amorphis, Dommin

This is a bit late, but oh well - I've been busy with college stuff.

I've been wanting to see Nightwish for years, and I finally saw them last week - twice. The first two shows of their Imaginaerum world tour. Overall, I was very impressed.

Anette's performance was brilliant, much better than I expected. I'll just say that the first time I listened to Dark Passion Play, I wasn't a huge fan, but her vocals definitely grew on me. I wasn't able to see Nightwish when they were touring for Dark Passion Play, but from what I've heard, Anette's live vocals have improved a lot. In my opinion, her vocals sound even better on Imaginaerum than on Dark Passion Play.

The rest of the band played brilliantly, as I expected. Marco's vocals were amazing, and I also loved Troy's performance. I was hoping that he would play at these shows.

Their setlist included songs from Imaginaerum, Dark Passion Play, Once, and also two cover songs. …

This is the first year I really tried to keep up with releases, but it turns out I picked a bad year for that. As I said in my top songs list, 2011 sucked for albums. It was a major release year - a ton of prominent artists released a new album this last year, and almost all of them were disappointments on some level... including ones that are actually making this list. That is what I find most disappointing - that my top 10 list has albums that were, in general, disappointing. It was also a great year for me though, in that I discovered artists I wouldn't have otherwise. Several of those are making this list as well. What's most important though is that I discovered artists this year that didn't release anything new. This proves that, with all the disappointment, there is always great stuff already out which must be heard!
