there is this great documentary about Marvin Gaye and his time in Ostende (Belgium) he stayed with "simple" belgian people, the woman still has his suits in her closet...they loved him...some of the neighbourhood people didn't know who they were talking to, so they were as simple and open as they would be to any other "foreigner"...in those times they was less polarisation...but ofcourse he stood out, not only by his "color"...his belgium time was a little bit sad ofcourse....getting away from drugaddiction which never seems to be easy at all!!...Marvin what a tragic end...still gets me a bit down sometimes...miss marvin! thanks for the songs

The dude on the bass is Frank Ballard. The story goes Marvin did not finish "In our Lifetime" so the project was given to Frank to complete. Thus explaining the heavy bassline through out the LP.

Nah, if it were produced by the Chic guys, we would have Nile Rodgers rockin on the guitar. All the IOL album is covered with killer basslines like this.
