Hard to find any news. Golden PEN award "for a lifetime's distinguished service to literature", a few concerts here and there plus an article about Thatcher/Brixton in the 80s and an interview...

FUCK Exodus, Exhumed, Meshuggah and Decapitated, next year I want LKJ on Ieperfest, He may not play Punk at least he IS Punk. @ least LKJ has depth, soul, spirit, poetry, a heart, compassion, rythm, political lyrics. This Grandmaster does not have to know one single HC band, not even CONFLICT or CRASS to be more HardCore than all the bands around today together! LKJ on Ieperfest next year!!!!!!!

"The poems contain graphic accounts of the often racist police brutality occurring at the time." "The poems contain graphic accounts of the alleged racist police brutality occurring at the time." Funny...first quote is from here, second is from wikipedia... Anyway, LKJ rules! ;-)

Carol, you either feel the beat or you don' t, Good you can appreciate the acapella versions anyway. You do. however, miss out on the fact that LKJ' s music is one of the best examples of contemporary British dub-music. As opposed to Jamaican. LKJ is also NOT a rastafarian, he' s a militant. If you' re from the US, in New York there used to be a label called Clappers Records. If anything, LKJ is comparable to their militant and socialist attitude.

i've been an lkj fan for a while and already liked a few of his albums but i am listening to bass culture right now for the first time and i'm already pretty sure this will be my favourite, this album is great. "loraine," oh my god is that slick.

LKJ - ever since i heard him about in beginning of the 80s i know what reggae culture is really about. through his deep and dark poetry's which speak the truth - underlined with these heavy atmospheric dub beats, in witch the breaks come in always just on time to make a point, you can see the world the way it really is. but still, somehow he manages to create a little light on the end of the tunnel no matter how dark it gets. . . . LKJ is a true genius of words and sound.

For me as a white overaged Dutch guy, LKJ is the first modern poet I heard of in the 80's. Don't know who can get even with him in lyrics and rythm.

One of the best modern British poets, if not the best. His words coupled with the heavy dub rhythms is a match made in heaven. I heard Forces of Victory for the first time today and I'm glad to be enjoying my Jamaican honeymoon.

I had a chance to see Linton two days ago performing his poetry in Philadelphia. He started with Five Nights of Bleeding, and ended with If I Was a Top Notch Poet. He is truly one of the great living poets, but it would be a bonus to see Dennis Bovell's dub band in the backround.
