Much bands barely exist for 10 years, some for less than 15 years. If a band does get to the second decade, they’re usually teetering on their last, are dinosaurs or even dead and gone. Or simply love honestly what they do – crazy and addicted to music with heart and soul! LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE are of this kind.
The origins of LACRIMAS can be traced back to 1993, when Oliver Nikolas formed the band with his brother Christopher who gave it the name: LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE, latin and can be translated as “to shed tears”. From underground heroes to internationally acclaimed act, Goth rockers LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE have slayed audiences worldwide.
Having toured with some of the biggest names in the music, including THE 69 EYES, LACUNA COIL, APOCALYPTICA, PARADISE LOST got outstanding marks from the death-doom scene with first records „…and the wings embraced us“ and ‘La naissance d’un rêve’ (1997)
‘Ave End’ changed everything. The combination of gothic melancholy mixed with the rock and metal roots of the band members led to a more precised and refined vision of a new sound-formula. Airing on biggest German TV-broadcasters and a successful headlinertour in GERMANY established the band as one of the leading names in the German Goth-Rock-scene!
In 2006 LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE returned with ‘Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts’. Produced and mixed by legendary JOHN FRYER himself (HIM, Nine Inch Nails, Paradise Lost, Cradle of Filth, Depeche Mode). The Melodic beasts of groove were driven by Christopher´s electrifying, very deep voice, embodying the pain of broken hearts brought their first CHART ENTRY in Germany. The album itself sounded like The Sisters of Mercy all of a sudden decided to cover Type O Negative, THE CULT or Sentenced.
Following their busy worldwide touring schedule, the infamous JACKASS Star BAM MARGERA also took notice of the band and decided to use the whole album on his worldwide weekly MTV show ‘Bam’s Unholy Union’ and other tracks for his DVD and Movie productions.
LACRIMAS reached a first peak in their career and with charismatic Rob Vitacca as a new vocalist and the album ‘Songs for the last view’ in 2008 the band continued where they had left off - on tour - this time as special guest of APOCALYPTICA.
The album instantly hit the TOP 100 MEDIA CONTROL CHARTS again and embarked on their first major headlining tour throughout Europe, as well as hitting the road as support of WEDNESDAY 13!
After 75 Gigs only in 2008, the year 2009 led the hard touring band to RUSSIA, BELGIUM, UK and the stages of multiple festivals. In October they embarked on the European ‘INTO DARKNESS’-Tour for a month which put an additional strain on the band as Oliver was already working on new songs between tours. A sequence in the thriller series ‘Nachtschicht: Das tote Mädchen’ (night shift: the dead girl) on Germany’s prime TV-broadcaster ZDF featured the song ‘And god’s ocean’. Right at the same time the band started their first headlining tour to SOUTH AMERICA!
Embracing their defiant mix of Metal and melancholic Music and gaining a rabid fan base thanks to their intensively live show the quintett released
The Grandiose Nowhere’ in 2010. Armed with their most heavy and confident release to date, the band won over hordes of new heavy music devotees and played more than 80 live shows in GERMANY, PERU, BOLIVIA, CHILE, SPAIN, CHINA, GREECE and performed at the most famous festivals of the scene like WACKEN, MERA LUNA, ARTmania, SZIGET or WGT.
Recorded with producer Corni Bartels (End of Green), pre-produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Sentenced, Apocalyptica, the 69 eyes and many more) and mixed and mastered at Antfarm Studios by Tue Madsen (Sick of it All, Heaven Shall Burn, The Haunted) the juggernaut returns with its 10th full-length album, likely to push the Goth-Metal genre even further into the scope of music fans everywhere. So watch out regardless of where you live or what genre you pledge your allegiance to. LACRIMAS will find a way into your world. Be prepared to ROCK!
‘We are still alive and love to play on stage. We are still music fanatics and fans, cause without music, life would be a mistake“ (Nietzsche).’
