Arcade Fire new album entitled “Suburbs”
      (Rated at 9/10) CLASH RECOMMENDS
Described as “Flipping the mundane trappings of suburban life into a captivating concept album, The Arcade Fire once more whip us into transcendental flight that’s a confident step forwards.

Taking their perennial themes of loss, fear, control and time they’ve re-woven their epic art rock around their fascinating suburban theme that literally lies on our own doorstep. Album reviews are often littered with hyperbole yet ‘Suburbs’ flattens them like the demolition balls that have so shaped their urban subject matter. …

    • Bzangy Groink Playlist 21/7/10

      28. Jul. 2010, 15:02 von JyotiMishra

      http://www.bzangygroink.co.uk/images/2010/brokenlinks.jpg

Woohoo, another busy night with *loads* of requests which I managed to honour as well as cramming in as much new stuff as possible! The best new song tonight was 'What Are You Waiting For?' by Broken Links. When I first downloaded and clicked play on Broken Links, I had no idea what would leap out. And it was one of those moments that keeps me DJing, keeps me looking for new music as what spilled out of my speakers was a delicious mix of goth, indie and synthy weirdness. Tying it all together is an immense melodic catchiness. Really, I think Broken Links will be huge sometime soon, do yourself a favour and get on them now so you can be smug then.

      http://www.bzangygroink.co.uk/images/2010/rlyl.jpg

The best old track was also a lovely collision of goth and pop: Red Lorry Yellow Lorry's 'Walking On Your Hands.' I fucking love this song so much, it's one of those tunes that makes you want to dance and punch stuff and hit your head against walls…

    • Mengi Bus Tour

      28. Jul. 2008, 9:10 von chromegat

Don't even know why I'm not tired. Didn't hit the sack till 5a.m this morning writing a website for my friend. Things I do for mates (for no dough).

"let us pray for the souls of the unborn/
      roadkill/
in the headlights of the juggernaut"
-- Souls Of The Unborn Re-Spit (Kashmere Feat Jehst)

I feel like roadkill this minute. pray for me.

So here I am sipping through a pot of Moroccan black coffee (would rather blaze a Moroccan green), bright eyed, listening to Jehst's Mengi Bus Mixtape. Never paid much attention to son and to my own loss. Heard a few tunes here and there but never copped any of his joints.

      http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i156/leedsanalogue/Mengibus/MengibusCover.jpg

The mixtape is tougher than a Nuke Proof Suit and DJ IQ does a good job of moving tings along. UK hip hop has always been so so with the exception of heads like Klashnekoff and skinny man. Another journal entry for those two (made my summer of '05). …

    • Dandelion Radio - July 2008 shows

      23. Jun. 2008, 20:39 von DandelionRadio

As we play out the last few days of the June shows (get in quick to catch them if you missed any of the 22 hours) ... here is what you can expect in July.

      Andrew Morrison:
After getting a lot of airtime from extra shows during the last few months, Andy's back to just one two-hour show in July - but it's a rare find packed with gems.
There an exclusive five track session from Ramp, the third specially-recorded live track from Eliza Newman's recent tour in the UK, as well as more tracks from wonderful unsigned acts Lanterns On The Lake and Alex Canasta.
You'll also hear the usual guest spots, 'Scott's Funky Five Minutes' and 'Teresa's Tasty Tips'.

      Dubster:
It's Radiodubster's annual garage sale again.
Yes, time to get down to the garage for an hour or 3 and have a good ransack through our unfeasibly large collection of vinyl and CDs, but take heed of the sign on the door "NO MUSIC SNOBS ALLOWED!"
So leave your inhibitions at the door and prepare for a 3 hour browse back in time through indie…

    • Music taste >.<

      3. Jun. 2008, 11:42 von ameeeena

My music taste seems to change with the seasons...
I suppose its a good thing though.
      Not sure...*ponders*

      Anyway, first blog >_>
      Thought I'd talk about..well..erm..music..!

Is it just me or does it seem like theres a lot
more choice of music genres now then there was
a few years ago? I don't know if thats connected
with the fact that I've grown up, but I just feel
like I can listen to anything and everything and be
able to let the whole world know about it. People
say "music is my life" What a good way to put it?

Genres that have suddenly appeared in my music tastes
      along with the bands/artists:

      Jrock:
      UVERworld,
      HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR
      MIYAVI
      ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION
      ORANGE RANGE

      Grime/Hip-Hop
      Akala
      Sway
      Kano
      Klashnekoff

      Metal
      Nemesea
      Metallica
      Trivium
      Black Sabbath
      As I Lay Dying
      Iron Maiden

    • Favourite albums of '07 part one: #30-#21

      31. Jan. 2008, 18:27 von Orange_Anubis

I'm a bit late! But I'm glad I took my time. I heard a couple of brilliant albums from last year for the first time this January, and it would have been horrible to miss them out. All the same, there's still bound to be great music missing from this countdown, just because I haven't heard it yet.

I did get to enjoy a huge amount of music last year, though. And I wouldn't have heard many of the albums I'm about to write about without introductions from some of my Last.fm mates. So big shout-outs to Nialloleary, Post-Rocker, PudsWoods and CvaldaVessalis. Cheers, lads. :)

Don't even ask me how I arrived at my Top 30. Suffice to say, there was a spreadsheet and a ridiculously complicated formula, which I proceeded to ignore whenever the results didn't feel right...

      30. Turzi - A
In Turzi's seductively restless world, a slightly krautrockier Kraftwerk meets the film scores of John Carpenter. And blimey, the urgency. Every track on this album is queasy with unresolved…
