Pan American nightmare, ten thousand feet fun-fair
Convinced that I don't care, it's safe as houses I swear
I was just sitting musing, the virtues of cruising
When altitude dropping, my ears started popping

Heavy metal could very well have spawned from just the riff and Bruford's drumming alone. DAMN IT BILL [2]. And Fripp's playing here is some of the best I've ever heard from him.

Bill Bruford: "The cymbal was featured on "One More Red Nightmare" from King Crimson's "Red" album, and has quietly become a legend. I found it in the rehearsal room trash can, deposited there by the group in the room before us. It was turned up on one side in an effort to get it to fit in the bin, like an Australian bush hat"

Yes to all the previous . . . and don't forget John Wetton's vocal. Powerful, gutsy, so fitting to the song sound. (His voice always reminded me a bit of Greg Lake.) I used to get this song stuck in my head and have to come home that evening and Crank It Up. The intro is so bad-ass. The drums and the evil guitar chords, the whole thing is just pure tank-tread energy.

they're human hand claps with effects on them, like phasing or panning or something. The Beatles did this with Ringo's drums on "Blue Jay Way" for example.

What are those "clapping" thingies if those aren't hands.

The drums, yes, YES, please! Bruford! It's not just the drums, though. The guitar part of the instrumental drives me fucken insane! Oh my god...
