This...... shouldn't..... work. It does however in a fantastic way, first time I've listened to a Crass song in years and really happy to welcome them back.

Was very skeptical but he did it with honour. He change the melodies, and at times sounds like a young Dylan making covers, other times a bit like Moody Peaches. So: I love Crass, but I think it works well with the Lewis style and stands completely separate from Crass. [4] It's fucking great.

I was a bit sceptical of this because I love Crass but I think it works well with the Lewis style and stands completely separate from Crass.

Love this album! Having grown up listening to Crass in the late 70's early 80's this album has opened my ears to a new dimension in Crass's music, the lyrics are still as relevant now as they were in the dark days of Thatcher/Reagan. I know at first they may appear to lack that forceful delivery we know from the originals but somehow the songs have been stripped back to reveal a still vital core. Crass at their best force the listener to question society and the individuals place in it, something thats much needed in this age of dumbed down celebrity culture.

Now that's a different and worthwhile way to hear Crass's songs played!

True his versions lack the blood and vinegar of the originals, but I think that is what makes it so good. If he was trying to be Crass it would just wind up being a bunch of noise and shouting. This on the other hand is more introspective, more thoughtful. I also think it presents a lot of the vulnerability in Crass' lyrics that you lose to their instrumentals.

I don't know what to think of this. I think there's nothing wrong with covering Crass, it's also nice that you can listen to those songs when they're a bit more pleasant on the ears and you can actually understand the lyrics directly. At the same time however some of these songs annoy the hell out of me, it lacks the anger and passion of the original and it's so obvious that the originals were completely different as some of the new versions just don't feel right, just sounds so inconvenient. Listen to the start of 'Big A' for example, I mean, what the heck is happening there. Anyway. Nice effort. Still enjoyed listening to it I guess.
