vv Some better track sequencing probably would've cured that and made a big difference. Each half teeters ever so little into monotony and no doubt trimming off tracks would've been nice. Placing the ballads sporadically would've definitely increased the effectiveness of each of the songs. As for the cliche-ness of the album, it's whole concept seems to be based on one, so it's something you basically gotta look over to really enjoy most of this.

Great album but I prefer the second half to the first... it's less forced and "busy". Tracks like If are quite simply overproduced and we don't get to fully appreciate their sonic strata as the arrangements rarely let up in sheer density. Also, like some of even Janet's best work, it can fall into the cliché trap occasionally...

I enjoy this album. It is a lengthy but pleasurable journey. The song "Throb" makes me one to dance firecely! I

I don't disagree that Erotica is more neatly interwoven as a conceptual album or that it was unfairly overshadowed by the sex book controversy. The janet. album did feel too sprawling at times; but Janet had a tough act to follow in RN1814 and a new contract to live up to. In the end though, I think the stronger songs are stronger (and far more sonically varied) than those in Erotica even though there is more filler.

I don't get the basis of comparison between janet. and Erotica outside of the time release and there being some stuff about sex. But if I had to pick which I prefer, well, I'd definitely pick janet. I love Erotica too, but I can't make myself love 'Did You Do It' or 'Waiting'. And I wish they'd fix it -- JUST 'janet.' [22]

How come we can't vote to correct this? I mean, even Janet said the album is called "janet period" right?
