Three Things

Three assignments await you, should you accept them.

1) Help with classical. Now, I have some knowledge of classical music, more than your average person probably, but I'd like to hear from classical fans.

Composers that I like: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Antonin Dvorak, Ludvig van Beethoven. (Typed these all without looking anything up, so you know I'm not some poser skank, I do actually listen to these artists. Well, I'm not a poser skank in this regard.)

Classical musicians I like: Itzak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma and Nigel Kennedy.

Now the input I need from knowledgable classical fans is this. I'd like a list of stuff I should look for to check out at the libary. (My local library is a good one.) Albums you, as a classical fanatic, would recommend to me.

2) I made up a word, "spy pants". Go to urbandictionary.com and give it a thumb's up, 'cause it's funny.

3) This isn't actually anything you have to do, but I found some open source classical music…

What I've been listening to.

I've just acquired a couple of recordings by Itzhak Perlman. I think it's already more or less established out there that he isn't the perfect violinist - which is exactly why his playing sounds very human. I mean, he doesn't play Bach partitas at triple speed simply because he can do it. His tone is really beautiful and I think the best thing about his playing is that you can really appreciate the violin from it. Yep. Anyway.

I want the soundtrack to Memoirs of a Geisha.

Just because. There's probably a lot of songs I've missed because, well, computer reformatting doesn't help a lot of things. I suppose this is the closest I can come to.

30. Run On
Cute, catchy, fun and, well, cute. I love this song, despite the fact that it's crying out to be the background music to some commercial (which it is anyway).

29. Theme From Schindler's List
I absolutely love this song; while the Schindler's List soundtrack tends to be a bit too melodramatic at times, I adore the theme to bits. Itzhak Perlman's playing simply makes me want to squee.

28. Adiemus
All right. I know this song is, well, the most overplayed one by Adiemus - but I can't help it. It's just so beautiful and haunting.

27. Black Black Heart
Good, angsty song. My guilty pleasure.

26. Heart-Shaped Box
I'm personally of the opinion that this song is much better than Smells Like Teen Spirit - and I don't think I'm the only one. Because... Well, I think the lyrics are more intimate and I love the melody more. Yep.
