8: Great; mostly good songs, maybe a dud or two
7: Good; 3-5 duds maybe, still strong
6: Okay; I like a few songs or flawed

Vic Chesnutt - At The Cut
Mmmmhmmm. HERE's something I'll like. Slow, depressive folk from an underground singer-songwriter that recently took his own life? Sign me up. And you know, I really do like this. It's a good mix of "big" songs, with theatrical post-rock-y parts; and smaller songs featuring just sparse guitar and voice. It's a pretty dark album, but if you can get over that its brilliant musically and lyrically. "Flirted With You All My Life" is one of the best songs I've heard in a while.
