I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (2:48)

Er erschien als B-Seite des Hits My Bucket’s Got a Hole in It.

This is such a beautiful song. I like the last verse the best. "The silence of a falling star lights up a purple sky..." That's a really powerful image.

You should hear the whippoorwills sing in the Ozarks. Nothin' like them except maybe the bobwhites.

Holy crap! I had forgotten just how good this old country really was. It takes me back to my childhood when Dad and Mom listened to this work. Wonderful!

Have you ever been so lonesome that you could CRY? ... That ain't a state of mind that I wish on anyone. Hank captured the feelings and emotions of the average person better than anyone before or since. His last words were in the back of car to Minnie Pearl as the song 'I Saw The Light' played on the radio ... He told Minnie, "That's just it. I didn't see the light." ... or similar words to that effect. Poor Hank. He gave his heart and soul to the public and was alone and a hollow shell inside. Drink and dope. Too bad.

Probably the first superstar of C&W, I'd guess, and he was taken so young, too. This is sort of what I think of when I imagine Nashville, not the factory-produced pop stuff they churn out nowadays.

Ain't nobody ever gonna do Hank better than Hank, God bless him ... Take it from an old radio DJ ... this guy was the best and everyone else is just trying to copy what he already did.
