  • 40 Questions About Your Top 50

    3. Dez. 2009, 0:01 von NH3Maser

Disclaimer: my top 50 don't really reflect my current taste in music all that well. I'm working on changing that.

    1. How did you get into 31?
In Flames. I was looking for a good metal instrumental, and someone recommended SpielenMan Made God.

    2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22?
Ah, Cynic's Veil of Maya. This may be my favorite album opener of all time.

    3. What's your favorite lyric by 29?
"Bow to the savior of the fearful and desperate / Shepherd of deception / Prophet of infection / Behold the Xenochrist!". Awesome outro. The Faceless were the ones who convinced me that Deathcore wasn't all shit.

    4. What is your favourite album by 49?
No contest, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). The first hip-hop album I ever liked.

    5. How many albums by 13 do you own?
Mastodon. All five of their full-lengths. I also bough the ATHF movie soundtrack just for Cut You Up With A Linoleum Knife.

    6. What is your favorite song by 50?
Demons and Wizards. Probably Fiddler On The Green.

    7. Is there a song by 4 that makes you sad?
I'm pretty sure that there's a Beatles song for every emotion. I'll go with Julia.

    8. What is your favorite song by 15?
Tough one, because The Doors have a lot of amazing tracks, but I'll say SpielenThe Unknown Soldier.

    9. What is your favorite song by 5?
Kalmah is another tough one. Doubtful About It All, maybe?

    10. Is there a song by 6 that makes you happy?
The Jimi Hendrix Experience, of course. Off the top of my head, SpielenAngel.

    11. What is your favorite album by 40?
Definitely Caught Somewhere in Time. Where Iron Maiden peaked in my opinion.

    12. What is your favorite song by 10?
Ensiferum. Has to be SpielenInto Battle. The guitar solo... rock.

    13. What is a good memory you have involving 33?
Explosions in the Sky. Too many to count, mostly involving psychedelics.

    14. What is your favorite song by 37?
Radiohead. Surprisingly, I guess it's SpielenMeeting In The Aisle, a random instrumental B-side off of some EP.

    15. Is there a song by 19 that makes you happy?
Fuck yeah Necrophagist. SpielenTo Breathe in a Casket always makes me glad that I'm not currently buried alive, I guess.

    16. How many times have you seen 24 live?
Lamb of God - just once, in LA. Not that great a show.

    17. What is the first song you ever heard by 23?
Nirvana. Almost certainly SpielenSmells Like Teen Spirit.

    18. What is your favorite album by 11?
Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here.

    19. Who is a favorite member of 1?
Death? The obvious answer, Chuck Schuldiner (R.I.P.).

    20. Have you ever seen 14 live?
    Nope, never seen Joe Satriani.

    21. What is a good memory involving 45?
Sir Mix-A-Lot? Well, this is embarrassing. The time the Pitt band played SpielenJump on It at halftime at some football game, maybe? (This is one of the artists covered in the above disclaimer, by the way.)

    22. What is your favorite song by 16?
Metallica. Easily The Call of Ktulu.

    23. What is the first song you ever heard by 47?
Black Sabbath. Dunno, likely SpielenIron Man.

    24. What is your favorite album by 21?
Not much of a selection as far as Dethklok albums go. I liked Dethalbum II better than the first one.

    25. What is your favorite song by 18?
    Pixies. Hmm... I Bleed.

    26. What is the first song you ever heard by 38?
Guns N' Roses. First I can remember is SpielenWelcome To The Jungle.

    27. What is your favorite lyric by 3?
Sigh... Children of Bodom. Who knows, it's not like the lyrics to any of their songs are distinguishable anyways. Maybe "Warheart! With no compassion or love / Warheart! Hate your fellow as yourself" from Warheart.

    28. What is your favorite song by 2?
Sublime. A lot of great songs, but I'll go with SpielenBoss D.J..

    29. What was the first song you ever heard by 32?
Slayer. I think it was SpielenAngel of Death, which I still regard as their best song.

    30. What is your favorite song by 8?
Wow, this is a tough choice for Led Zeppelin. I have to say Nobody's Fault But Mine, but this is very very close.

    31. How many times have you seen 17 live?
I have no idea what OutKast is doing in this position. Never.

    32. Is there a song by 44 that makes you happy?
Yep, nearly all of Tenacious D's songs will do the trick. SpielenDouble Team always cracks me up.

    33. What is your favorite album by 12?
    God Dethroned. Easily Bloody Blasphemy.

    34. What is the worst song by 46?
Where to start with Styx? I used to like SpielenMr. Roboto, but all it does now is raise my urge to kill.

    35. What was the first song you ever heard by 34?
    Elvis. Hound Dog, I guess?

    36. What is your favorite album by 42?
Immortal Technique. Revolutionary Vol. 2 is amazing.

    37. How many times have you seen 39 live?
    Jay-Z, never.

    38. What is your favorite album by 36?
Also a pretty sparse selection for Gorillaz. Between the two, I'll say Demon Days.

    39. What was the first song you ever heard by 28?
The Who. This is unusual, but the first one I can remember is SpielenChristmas.

    40. What is your favorite album by 7?
Queen, A Night At The Opera.

  • The OTHER 15 Most Annoying Songs EVER

    1. Dez. 2009, 21:51 von AnnaDraconida

    Howdy again.

The previous list was just not long enough to contain them all. So instead of expanding it, I've created a new one, for all the horrible crimes-against-music that didn't fit into part 1.
This is 100% mainstream trash; not-so-famous bands have plenty of annoying tunes too, but flaming them just isn't as much fun.
    Enjoy. Or not.

WARNING!!! HERE THERE BE PICTURES OF MUTANTS!!!

    15 - James Blunt: SpielenYou're Beautiful

I don't know James Blunt. I don't know what kind of a person he really is, but the air of douchiness surrounds him like a shimmering cocoon. And he's the vocal equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. Unfortunately this song was a huge hit, I kept hearing it everywhere, and every time I heard it I had an increasing desire to punch James Blunt's face.

14 - Mika: SpielenWe Are Golden

You know those 2 girls 1 cup reaction videos that are all over the Net? That's what my face was like when I saw & heard this shit. It's like a unicorn lifting its tail & dropping sparkly rainbow dung onto a field of gold & diamonds.

13 - Maroon 5: SpielenShe Will Be Loved (or any other track, really)

Their music sucks, their singer sounds like a neutered tomcat, and worst of all-he seems to be convinced that he's the material that wet female dreams are made of. This song has assaulted my ears countless times, in situations where escape was impossible (during bus rides, for example) and I can't even describe how much I've grown to hate it.

    12 - Cher: SpielenBelieve

At one point, Tom Cruise considered devouring her brains. Unfortunately he didn't act on his impulses. Cher has a man-voice (possibly a result of all those hormones she stuffed into herself to stop the natural aging process) and looks just a tad more plastic than a lego figure. Believe is her last big hit, and it's made even more horrible than usual by her heavily autotuned man-voice and the cheesy dance beat. Yuck.

11 - Gloria Gaynor: SpielenI Will Survive

    ARRRRGH!!!

10 - My Chemical Romance: Teenagers

Stupid, emotionally challenged, superficial, sheep-headed teenagers of today-this is what you want, this is what you need, EAT UP.

9 - Emilíana Torrini: Jungle Drum

Words to describe how annoying this is.... There are none.

    8 - Madonna: Give It 2 Me

I love Madonna. I still think that Ray of Light is the best pop album ever. Her late 90's-early 00's work was mature, artistic, beautiful. Confessions on a Dance Floor was fun, hip & cool. Then something happened to her (or should I say, INSIDE HER DAMN HEAD) and Hard Candy was born. Thoroughly atrocious, with only a few tolerable tunes, most notably Miles Away. Give It 2 Me (see, she used 2 instead of To, because that's like, cool and stuff and young people do that) is nothing more than the sad attempt of an aging woman to appeal to audiences that are constantly bombarded by the onslaught of 20-something whorish starlets. Her most recent "hit", Celebration accomplished the near-impossible mission of being even shittier than Give It 2 Me. Madge needs to reinvent herself, and FAST.

    7 - Benny Benassi: Satisfaction

You can't even call this "music" legally.

6 - Kylie Minogue: I Should Be So Lucky

I should be so lucky lucky lucky lucky on a faraway tropical island, blissfully unaware of this song's existence...
Honorable mention: The Loco-Motion & SpielenCan't Get You Out of My Head

    5 - Guns N' Roses: SpielenSweet Child O' Mine

I don't hate this song because it comes from an overrated band composed of stupid douchebags with over-inflated egos (if I cared about the egos of musicians I may not listen to any major bands at all); I hate it because I can't stand the whining and squealing of Axl Rose, and it's overplayed to the point where I just cringe whenever I hear it. Same goes for most of their hits. 'Nuff said.

    4 - Green Day: 21 Guns

    Just look at that picture.

3 - Enrique Iglesias: SpielenTakin' Back My Love

WOW. This guy is so deeply in love with himself, it's a wonder he didn't start a campaign for the legalization of self-marriage yet. He pouts more than a female supermodel and tongue-fucks various chicks in each of his videos to show what a walking, talking bomb of manliness he is. He hardly sings, most of his vocals sound like a random dude attempting to win back his woman by performing cheesy romantic karaoke under her window. I'd throw bricks at him.

2 - Fergie: SpielenGlamorous and every other fucking piece of garbage excuse for a song she ever unleashed upon the world

There are artists who annoy me. Then there are "artists" who annoy me even more. And then there's THIS steaming, epic pile of horseshit. Read these lyrics and tell me you don't feel like kicking this conceited caricature of a human female IN THE BALLS. Consumerism, greed, narcissism and careless stupidity enhanced by all the plastic surgery money can buy, but still ugly both on the inside & out. As much as I detest Perez Hilton, he was right about this one.

1 - a bunch of mutants called The Black Eyed Peas: My Humps

    ...OH THE HORROR! THE PAIN!

PS: In case you disagree with me and want to bash my charts (like that would change the fact that all these artists & songs DO suck sweet & sour donkey ding dongs), remember that this is my personal journal where I can write anything I want, and

  • If it sounds good, it is good.

    1. Dez. 2009, 2:32 von richrichmond

I haven't had a chance to listen to any of these yet, but I thought it was an interesting mix of music I picked up today. See here. Bon Jovi The Circle, Nirvana Live at Reading, Pearl JamTen, Megadeth Endgame.

I pause to reflect on this selection because it is fairly representative of my thoughts on music. Eddie Van Halen once said "If it sounds good, it is good." It was with this basic and simple tenant that has since ruled my musical tastes. I used to let others dictate what I liked. The radio, friends, family, marketing. Whatever. You couldn't like Megadeth because I was a Metallica fan. You couldn't possibly like Poison and Anthrax. Bon Jovi was for posers. Nirvana sucked because they destroyed...whatever. It is all pretty silly when you think about it.

Once I began liking what I liked because it sounds good, I found myself open to a whole world of new musical worlds. Lyle Lovett was great! I COULD like Anthrax and Nirvana and Faith Hill. It was OK to enjoy, metal, pop, country, pop country, grunge, shoegaze, whatever, if it sounds good it is good.

My iTunes library has 17,000 songs in in from every possibly genre. Mostly rock, hard rock, pop rock, 90's rock, classic rock, modern rock and indie rock. But there is tons of pop, top 40, metal, pop country, classic country, punk, adult contemporary, soundtracks, classical, ect. If it sounds good, it is good.

I refuse to let others dictate what I listen to. I never listen to terrestrial radio, instead I use the internet, iTunes, last.fm, woxy.com, and recommendations from friends to discover new music. When discussing music, I try not to say something I do not like "sucks". All of the music I do not like is played by folks with far more talent than I have, just because I do not like it, does not make it suck. If someone says band X sucks, I do not take that on face, I listen if I am interested and make my own determination. Sometimes I like what I hear, sometimes I dont. I remember the night my cousin Brian told me how much Guns N' Roses sucks. One of my favorite bands for the last twenty years. If it sounds good, it is good.

So I imagine I will probably enjoy all four of these albums and blissfully ignore the ridicule that goes along with liking Bon Jovi. And Megadeth. Everybody likes Pearl Jam.

  • Why I Stopped Using Pandora

    30. Nov. 2009, 9:40 von wingkon

So, some people complain about the comparisons that Last.fm makes. Well check this out. Here are a few ridiculous comparisons Pandora made. I don't know if they changed them yet or not, but here are a few that I've seen. I'll add more. Feel free to contribute, if you've noticed anything like this on Pandora.

    Arch Enemy and Pantera
    Atreyu and Rise Against
Bullet For My Valentine and Rise Against
Bullet For My Valentine and Breaking Benjamin
Cradle of Filth and Children of Bodom
Cradle of Filth and Arch Enemy
    Dido and Enya
    Disturbed and Linkin Park
    Emilie Autumn and Within Temptation
    Emilie Autumn and Nightwish
Eths and As I Lay Dying
    Eths and Atreyu
    Evanescence and Seether
    Evanescence and Linkin Park
    Evanescence and 3 Doors Down
    Evanescence and Three Days Grace
    Lacuna Coil and Flyleaf
    Metallica and Guns N' Roses
Kittie and System of a Down
    Kittie and Flyleaf
    Metallica and AC/DC
    Opeth and In Flames
Otep and System of a Down
    Pantera and Rob Zombie
    Pantera and Alice in Chains
    Pantera and Tool
    Twisted Sister and Metallica

    A few trends I've noticed:
Many metal bands comapred to Tool and A Perfect Circle
Many melodic death metal or metalcore bands compared to In Flames.
Pretty much every metalcore band comapred to Killswitch Engage, All That Remains or As I Lay Dying
Any nu-metal, and a other types are compared to Slipknot, Korn or Mudvayne
Any female fronted gothic/symphonic is compared to Within Temptation and Nightwish
Most hard rock bands compared to Breaking Benjamin
And thrash metal compared to Metallica or Megadeth
And female fronted pop-country compared to Taylor Swift or Carrie Underwood

I could go on and on...

  • New Opinions of Last.fm's Top 50

    29. Nov. 2009, 10:06 von LexiFSAS

Before I begin, this is for my own fun and because I'm extremely bored with nothing to do. I'm sick. Even if I say I don't like a certain band or say negative things about a certain band, I have mad respect for anyone that listens to them. Everyone's music taste is their own, and no one has the right to tell you that your taste in music is bad. If anyone does, make them go away.

    1. Muse - I, for one, don't like Muse. I feel like they have become the new Radiohead. I really enjoy a select few songs, particularly Assassin. This song is just great and full of some really intense energy. Also, Plug-In Baby is really great. I find everything else... rather bland. I really dislike their new album and have heard from other people that it was disappointing. Also, I find Knights of Cydonia really annoying. Don't ask me why. Most of you probably think it's like the best song ever made, so props to you. Just not for me.

    2. The Beatles - I don't want to go ranting about them, and I know people will just absolutely hate me because I don't like their music. However, John Lennon is a big influence on me and I did a pretty damn big project on him in 8th grade. I also think they have really shaped music and pretty much paved the road for music. I'm just not into THEIR music. I know, I'm bad.

    3. Radiohead - I think this is the one band on here that I really hate. I have respect for you if you listen to them, that's cool, but this is just definitely not my thing. I think it's more backround music, to be honest, as a friend of mine once said. It could be good for long car rides or something, or maybe falling asleep to. I've only discovered one song I really have enjoyed by them, SpielenWeird Fishes/Arpeggi.

    4. Coldplay - I like their music, but I personally think they are annoying. Their music is pretty good and catchy, I like their energy as well. I really enjoyed SpielenShiver when I first heard it, and their newest album isn't bad at all. I just find the band as a whole kind of annoying, I'm not sure why.

    5. Lady GaGa - No surprise this lady is that high up on the list. Teens are going crazy over her. A lot of people think she's just downright freaky for her obscure and bizzare fashion sense. Some of her music is very catchy and danceable, however, this is NOT my style of music. As a person, I do have respect for her as an individual. She definitely is not afraid to go out there and be the person she is, even if it's just... weird. I'll admit, whenever one of her songs come on the radio, me and my friends are definitely singing and dancing along. But once again, not my style.

    6. The Killers - I don't like them and I especially don't like Brandon Flowers. Their style of music kind of freaks me out. Also, I met them because my friend was in one of their music videos, and they are douche bags. Maybe that's why I feel so negatively about them. I mean, SpielenMr. Brightside was pretty decent and all, but I think it's the way they represent themselves and what they represent are the things that bug me.

    7. Red Hot Chili Peppers - These guys obviously rock. I get all pumped up and excited whenever I hear By the Way or Can't Stop come on the radio. I don't listen to them that much at home at all, but my view of them is pretty positive. I like pretty much all of their work with the exception of their newest album, which was decent at best. I respect them for sticking it through this long and still releasing good quality albums.

    8. Metallica - I'm all about metal. I love metal. I just hate thrash metal. These guys are one of the pioneers of thrash metal, or so I'm told, and I really just don't like the genre that much as a whole. I heard their new album was kind of absolute shit, which left me kind of disappointed. They have some seriously epic songs obviously, and I do respect them. It's just not my preferred subgenre of metal. I also find their singer a little weird and annoying.

    9. Michael Jackson - I don't listen to him, first off. And I think it's kind of sad that his song count went absolutely sky rocketing since his recent death (R.I.P.), I really wish he was here to see everyone adore him as they do now. It would have made him happy. I believe he was a genuinely good person, and just horribly misunderstood. It's not really my style of music, but he's just such a huge part of music, and I have deep deep respect for what he's done.

    10. Kings of Leon - I definitely don't like these guys. I read their interview in the Rolling Stone and they seem kind of off. They most definitely sold out with SpielenSex On Fire, and then somehow sold out once again with SpielenUse Somebody. I actually did like some of their songs at first listen when they were on the radio 24/7, but they just got so overhyped, it ruined them for me. They are okay though.

    11. Nirvana - I love Nirvana. I absolutely love them. I love Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl a disgusting amount. I really like their music. I'm really sad that Kurt is gone now (R.I.P.). I totally think Courtney Love did it, somehow. I don't really have anything else to say but positive things about these pioneers of grudge, so I'll leave it at that.

    12. Linkin Park - I used to love, love, love Linkin Park in middle school. They were my obsession. They went to the same high school as I did, and I had teachers who had Mike Shinoda that talked very highly of him. Hybrid Theory and Meteora were so good. They made up my middle school and 9th grade career. I think I know every word to every song on both of those albums. But when they released Minutes To Midnight, I was SO disappointed. I feel like they took a whole new different direction. That album blows.

    13. Green Day - Well, I have mixed opinions about them. Obviously, as most people will agree, their old stuff was the shit. It was amazing. I feel like they didn't really care what people thought of them back then and went all out in a punk-ish sort of way, which I love. But once American Idiot hit, I feel like their popularity or something went straight to their heads. They are definitely not like they used to. I still have some deep respect for them, they are still a good band releasing albums that most people still seem to like, although I didn't enjoy their newest album too much.

    14. Pink Floyd - I'm not sure I can really talk about these guys because I don't know much about them. Everyone loves them though, and the songs that I have heard are groundbreaking. They made some good music, at least from what I have heard so far. I'm pretty sure they had a role in shaping rock just as The Beatles did. However, I won't go on because I just don't know anymore.

    15. Arctic Monkeys - I'm a little surprised to see these guys so high up on the list. I had no idea they were this popular. I really, really liked I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor, but once again, really not my style of music altogether. I've heard some other stuff, and it was just pretty average to me. I'm not sure I really dig what they represent either. They are okay, though.

    16. Foo Fighters - I love Foo Fighters. I have so much respect for Dave Grohl, I really do. He is a great musician, absolutely fantastic. I love their drummer too, but I forgot his name. I wasn't the biggest fan of their latest release, but SpielenThe Pretender was awesome. They released probably one of my favorite albums of all time, The shape and the colour. I think that album is flawless, or pretty close to it. I love their energy, especially Dave's at live shows. I love a band who can stick through it and can keep releasing good albums.

    17. Black Eyed Peas - Not a big fan of Fergie or Will.I.Am. Definitely not. I think I know every single word to SpielenFergalicious, though, just because it was on the radio so much back in the day. They obviously have some catchy music, and I also know all the words to SpielenBoom Boom Pow because of how much it was on the radio. Some of their songs are good and catchy, and like I said before, I'm not afraid to admit that me and my friends dance and sing when some of their stuff comes on in the car. I don't have a big general liking for them though, and I most definitely don't keep up with them. Not my style.

    18. Death Cab for Cutie - YES! I absolutely love this band. So much. Probably my favorite indie band of all time. I really don't listen to indie, but when I do, it's usually these guys. I like how pretty much every single album they released has been epic and great, not a single bad album. Photobooth is my most played song on iTunes, and probably one of my favorite songs of all time. I only listen to a few other indie bands, like Tegan and Sara, Broken Social Scene, Bloc Party, and maybe some others. But these guys are my favorites.

    19. Placebo - Also surprised to see this band so high up on the list. I had no idea they were this popular. However, I literally know diddly squat about them and have heard absolutely any of their music. If you guys want to suggest me some songs to listen to, go for it and I'll check them out.

    20. Paramore - Say what you want, I really like them and I respect them. Even the song they did for the dreaded Twilight movie was pretty good (SpielenDecode). I like Hayley Williams, she's definitely a cutie. I think I have a ton of plays of this band. I really like them and their music. Sadly, I still haven't checked out their newest album, so if anyone wants to tell me their review on it, you totally should. While this isn't completely my style of music, I like it quite a bit. I also screamed like a little schoolgirl when I heard Hayley randomly come in on the Set Your Goals song The Few That Remain on their album (which I suggest all you pop-punk/hardcore fans go check out right now!)

    21. Queen - I have always thought they were kind of overrated, but people absolutely love them. I know they have released a few groundbreaking epic songs, but I don't really like their music at all. I definitely respect them and what they have done for music. Unfortunately, I don't know anymore about these guys so I can't go on.

    22. U2 - This is one of the few bands that I will actually say I hate. I don't hate their fans at all or anything like that, I just selectively hate Bono and his band. I hate what they represent. I also hate how Bono dresses. But this has nothing to do with their music, which I also have never been a fan of. I really just hate all of their songs and I think this band is just kind of icky. They rub me the wrong way, if you get my drift.

    23. Led Zeppelin - Absolutely love Led Zeppelin. I only have their greatest hits albums because I'm not that much into classic rock, but every song on their is just so fucking awesome. They pretty much shaped rock-n-roll, or at least most of it. I don't know a lot about them, but the songs I have heard are amazing. I don't listen to them near enough, though.

    24. System of a Down - Yes, yes, yes, yes. Used to be one of my favorite bands ever, and they still kind of are. I don't listen to them as much as I used to, but I can say with confidence that I have liked every album they released. I'm pretty upset that I didn't get to see them live before they broke up, and I just oh so desperately want to get them back together. I really don't like Scars on Broadway or Serj Tankian doing it solo. I actually don't find that music at all. They need to get back together, who's with me?!

    25. Oasis - I always see this band getting so much hate. I actually like them, not all of their stuff but definitely a few songs are really, really great. I still find myself listening to Champagne Supernove, SpielenWonderwall, and SpielenDon't Go Away sometimes. I definitely don't like all of their stuff or their newest stuff, but a few songs have some great memories attached to them, and I'm always thankful for songs like that.

    26. David Bowie - I hope I don't get flamed, but I really know absolutely nothing about him. I heard he's made some pretty epic and groundbreaking stuff, so if anyone here wants to suggest me some songs, I'll go and listen to them. Unfortunately, I can't review him anymore because I simply don't know anymore.

    27. MGMT - Meh, meh, meh. It's the perfect word to describe this band, in my opinion. Not too great, not too bad. I really like SpielenElectric Feel (which I heard at a party and started dancing to) and SpielenTime to Pretend, but not really anything else. Keep in mind, this isn't really my style of music, but I imagine people who like this weird electronic kind of indie stuff like them a lot. I also read an interview about them in the Rolling Stone and they didn't sound like great people. But they are okay, I respect them.

    28. The Rolling Stones - Once again, I really don't know much about them to give a review on them. I know that SpielenGimme Shelter is an amazing song, but I haven't heard really anything else. I know that they're in the Hall of Fame and they shaped rock-n-roll somewhat, so mad props for that.

    29. The Cure - I never got into The Cure, I just never could. Some of their music is decent, in my opinion, but it's just really not my thing. I have respect for them though and I know people absolutely love them. As the list keeps going down, I know less and less about bands, so bear with me!

    30. Bob Dylan - I think Tangled Up in Blue is such an annoying song. I don't know why, I just do. I know I'd probably get super mega flamed if I insulted Bob Dylan anymore than I just did, so I'll refrain. I guess he's cool though, and he definitely has some good songs. But I don't know anything about him or his music, so I'll stop here.

    31. Rammstein - Hm, German metal? Sounds alright to me. I obviously, like most of you guys, enjoyed Du Hast quite a bit. The guitar work in that song is so awesome and catchy. I believe it led me to get their discography, and I was definitely impressed with some of their work, but nothing matches up to Du Hast. I'm not a huge fan because I don't understand German, and I usually like to understand what they're saying.

    32. Daft Punk - I got some serious respect for Daft Punk and I was really happy to see them in DJ Hero. I have quite a few songs by them, including SpielenOne More Time, SpielenAerodynamic, SpielenAround the World, and several others, and I have to say, I still listen to the songs I have by them often. I definitely enjoy them, but at the same time, I'm not in on the whole techno or whatever scene. It's not my thing. But these guys are an exception, and they create some great beats and catchy music.

    33. blink-182 - Finally. My music taste has long since expanded since these guys were at the peak, and I'm not totally into this genre that much anymore, but they have remained my favorite band of all time ever since I was a child. I have so many songs by them that have memories attached to them, and I am thankful for that. I love Mark, Tom, and Travis with the fire of a thousand suns. I literally cried when they broke up, cried when they got back together, and started screaming insanity when I heard about Travis Barker's plane crash, and cried some more when I heard DJ AM died. Anyways, I love SpielenWhat's My Age Again? more than most people. I also saw them live twice, the first and last shows of their tour. Greatness!

    34. Depeche Mode - I know like diddly squat by these guys. I'm not sure what type of music they play. Someone should enlighten me and throw some songs my way so I can expand my musical horizons!

    35. Beyonce - I find her so annoying. I'm sorry, I just do. I know that everything she represents is so good and positive, but I just find her to be a really annoying human being. No disrespect to her fans, but her music is definitely not my thing either. Once again, I'm not afraid to admit that I dance and sing along to Single Ladies and Halo whenever it comes on in the car. Yes, I know the words.

    36. Franz Ferdinand - I really don't know much except SpielenTake Me Out friggin' ruled. I've heard some of their other stuff and it doesn't really compare. I have mixed opinions on them, but once again, the respect is definitely there. Unfortunately, I don't know anymore about them, so let's move on.

    37. The White Stripes - I really only like the song Icky Thump. I think that song is just so epic, so epic. I love it. I actually ended up getting that whole album (whatever it's called, I forgot), and I've listened through it a couple of times. I really don't like any of their other songs by Icky Thump. But I definitely think they are a talented group of fellows, and lady (if I recall, their drummer is a chick-a-dee).

    38. Bloc Party - YES! I love Bloc Party, so much. Silent Alarm is one of my favorite albums of all time. I love this album so much and have so much respect for this band, it's insane. It's probably one of the few indie bands I listened to, as mentioned before. Some of my favorite songs of all time belong to them, such as SpielenBanquet and SpielenLike Eating Glass. I really didn't like their new album, Intimacy, all that much. They kind of took a different direction and I didn't like it, but SpielenOne Month Off is great.

    39. Eminem - I have respect for him since I know some details about his personal life, as I'm sure some of you do. It seems like he's battled some really hard times and had the courage and strength to write about his difficulties and show them to the world through music. I really didn't like his new album, Relapse, but some people really enjoyed it, and that's good. I am definitely a fan of his older stuff when he was a goof ball and didn't give a fuck.

    40. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - I think this is one of the indie bands that kind of annoys me, but I still respect them and Karen O. at the same time. (What is her last name?) Of course, I gotta have respect for them since SpielenMaps was the first song I ever learned on drums, but this kind of indie isn't really my style. I guess they're okay, but definitely not my thing.

    41. Britney Spears - No, no, no. I really don't like her. Yeah, I know all of the words to SpielenToxic, but who doesn't? Her new album(s) have kind of blown, but I do have respect for her. She shaved her and went through a bad downward spiral, but it seems she came out on top. So congratulations on that. Now let's all go kill K-Fed. Who's down?

    42. Guns N' Roses - My mom used to dream about having the sexy times with Axl Rose. (I don't know how to spell his name, my apologies). I don't really like all of their music that much, but I know they recently released Chinese Democracy. I've been hearing mixed reviews about it. I remember there was one song on there that I really really liked, but I can't remember. Some of their old stuff like SpielenParadise City was obviously just great and epic.

    43. Weezer - I like them a lot. Not a lot a lot, but just a lot. They recently released a new song that's been gaining mad popularity that I've really enjoyed, but I forgot the name. I bought the album Make Believe sometime ago and I still listen to it from time to time. I'm not a big enough fan to go get some of their more better albums, but they have some absolutely great songs that I love.

    44. Kanye West - I'm a huge fan of rap or the hip-hop genre as a whole. However, Kanye had a lot of respect from me and I really enjoyed pretty much all of his older stuff. You could tell on Graduation he started going downhill as he started getting depressed, and then when 808s & Heartbreaks came out, he hit rock bottom. I think he should have just stuck with his not auto-tuned good rapping like All Falls Down and some other stuff. I liked him back then. And then that whole Taylor Swift thing? Yeah, respect lost, Kanye!

    45. AC/DC - I think I have a lot of plays by them. I used to listen to them a lot, and I definitely like some of their songs. They fucking rock out. I don't know that much about them and I don't even know what albums I have by them, I know that they're pretty good though. I don't listen to them anymore, though, and I definitely don't plan on it.

    46. Jay-Z - I think he's okay (with the exception of looking like a monkey). I think he's a really great rapper, but as I have said earlier, I'm definitely not down with hip-hop or rap, so I can't really judge. I actually have been really recently enjoying Empire State of Mind, though. That song is really great. If all of his other stuff sounds like that, then I'm down.

    47. The Strokes - Once again, I don't know diddly squat by this band, but I absolutely love the song SpielenReptilia. I know every word to that song and I eventually learned the drums to it, it's great stuff. I think somewhere down the line, I liked that song so much I decided to check out some of their other stuff and I think I remember being really disappointed.

    48. The Prodigy - I'm not sure I've even heard of these guys, anyone care to enlighten me?

    49. Pearl Jam - I find these guys SO annoying! Some of their songs are okay, but I get them confused with other bands a lot, and I don't know, I just really don't like them. I don't remember ever liking them. I know they were huge in the 90's, though. I actually hear The Fixer sometimes on the radio, and I really like it, so maybe I'll go buy that one song. But everything else is just so meh.

    50. The Offspring - I love The Offspring, absolutely love them. These old guys keep rocking out and releasing good quality stuff, that's just fine by me. SpielenHammerhead is such an awesome song, and I think SpielenThe Kids Aren't Alright is probably one of my favorite songs ever made. I got some mad respect and I hope they keep releasing some groovy stuff.

Anyways, there it is. I'm not even sure why I just did that, but I had the time, so I did it. I think I started at about 12:43 AM and I ended just now at 2:04, so that was a good hour of my time.

There's no need to flame here, guys. I respect your taste in music, so please respect mine. If you disagree with something, right on, bro. I expect that most of you will disagree, which is 100% good. Opinions are important. Comment, flame, +1 to your post count, pee yourselves, or all of the above.

This is a full blown assault!

  • My Top 50

    29. Nov. 2009, 9:26 von ShatteredFlame

Well I've been on last.fm for almost 2 years now and my taste has changed dramatically over time. Looking at my top 50 overall I'm really not happy with most of the artist on their. Partly because at first when I discovered a band I loved I would scrobble the shit out of them until they reached a high status on my charts. Nowadays I can't be bothered with how much I scrobble an artist because there's always so much other music I want to check out. So here I am at 2 am listening to Tom Waits wasting the night away writing about what I think about my top 50.
= Looks great on my charts
= I like them but I'm not for 100% in having them high in my charts
    = GTFO my charts.

    1. Tool
Took me a while for me to love them. Then when they finally grew on me they immediately became one of my favorite bands. All their albums are great even their live album Salival is something worth checking out. And with each album better than the last I can only imagine how amazing their next album will be since 10,000 Days was so perfect.

    2. The Cure
Immediately loved them when I first heard Disintegration. There early post-punk stuff is great but I think they hit they're peak with Disintegration. Weak was alright but everything after pretty much sucks. I still haven't checked out everything by them even with over 2000 scrobbles. They have so much material.

    3. Opeth
First checked out Still Life. Loved it. Then Damnation. Bored me, except SpielenWindowpane. Like Tool it took me awhile before fully appreciating them. Now they've become one of my favorite bands.

    4. Pink Floyd
Yeah classic band. Darkside Of The Moon, The Wall, and Animals are all classics to me.

    5. A Perfect Circle
I don't really listen to them at all anymore. At first I was just a blind Tool fan loving Maynard's voice and his lyrics, now I think most lyrics are complete bullshit and appreciate artist for their musicianship. These guys are better than your average mainstream rock bands, some nice song writing that sets them apart from simply sounding generic. Spielen3 Libras will always be one of my favorite songs.

    6. Katatonia
I'm always an "on again off again" type of relationship with these guys. First heard The Great Cold Distance, loved it at first now I can barely sit through the whole thing. There other albums are the same, except Brave Murder Day which will always be their best. Overall, they have a lot of gems spread out in their albums, the best usually being bonus tracks and CD-singles.

    7. Celldweller
I used to listen to this guy all the time. Now I think he is pretty overrated. Being a part of the AMV community is really sickening because everyone considers this guy a genius, pretty much every single song is done to death. Why do people praise this guy for being a one man band? Like there isn't millions of other solo artist who also create great music. He has some great material but I wouldn't call anything he's done a masterpiece. Every song he has released lately has been solid but I really don't think he can create a great album. I'll take a great album over a great song any day.

    8. Puscifer
Actually checked him out before APC or Tool. Still love this project. V is for Vagina is a great album but I do think that it is very hit and miss. The stuff he has been putting out lately especially The Humbling River have got to be the best material released on here. I'm liking this new atmospheric direction.

    9. Rise Against
My favorite generic nostalgic band. I don't really listen to them at all anymore but I don't mind it when I do.

    10. Metallica
Really not sure how they got this high on my charts in the first place. I think they're classic albums for the most part are very overrated. Kill 'em All and ...And Justice for All are pretty good though. When Death Magnetic first released I loved it but since then I've gotten into a lot of other superior metal bands.

    11. Eminem
Yeah hes a guilty pleasure. Will always be.

    12. Devin Townsend
I completely love this guys work. His insanity is of my liking. Great musicianship. Addicted has also got to be one of my favorite 09 releases.

    13. Agalloch
These guys can't release a bad record. Everything they've done is great.

    14. King Crimson
Masters of Prog? Yeah In the Court of the Crimson King, Larks Tongue in Aspic and Red. are all essential for every prog lover.

    15. Shining
Checked these guys out when I read that fucked up description about their beliefs and live performances, I just had to hear how fucked up this was. I'm glad I did give them a listen. Besides being fucked up V: Halmstad has got to be one of the greatest pieces of music I have ever heard. Every track is mind blowing. I haven't really gave their earlier stuff much of a listen. VI: Klagopsalmer was awful though.

    16. Meshuggah
Didn't really want to check them out because how stupid their band pictures look. Chaosphere made me laugh, Jens Kidman sounded like a barking dog and the music just sucked. Catch-33 was a much better experience, their music was kind of annoying but I think that's what inevitably made them great for me....for some reason, don't really know how to describe my feelings toward them. They also became the headliners of the first concert I attended :).

    17. Infected Mushroom
First heard the song Artillery which was great. I didn't check out the full album until a long time after which I regret because Vicious Delicious is a damn satisfying album. I don't care about how pop it is compared to how magical their earlier albums are. Infected Popshroom > Infected Mushroom. Not too much of a fan of them, they're live performance was hands down the best I've been too. I also helped advertise for them in their fanmanager street team and won an autographed poster and CD :D.

    18. Amon Amarth
Twilight of the Thunder God unleashed my hidden craving for death metal. Now I think it's a pretty boring record. Metal gets old fast man.

    19. Jerry Goldsmith
Lol, short lived movie soundtrack craving.

    20. Angelspit
Addicting shit. Addicting when I first heard them. Still as addicting now. Even they're new release cleared my disappointment after a few listens. 2nd album has yet to grasp me.

    21. My Bloody Valentine
    Loveless

    22. Beastie Boys
Hell Yeah! Probably a guilty pleasure, isn't it?

    23. "Weird Al" Yankovic
    Another guilty pleasure, right?

    24. Nine Inch Nails
I never really liked them as much as I wanted to. All these scrobbles are a failed attempt for the most part. The Downward Spiral and The Fragile have some good songs but other than that I have never been able to see the magic.

    25. Linkin Park
    Angry generic emo shit.

    26. Joy Division
A truly great band. Ian Curtis wrote some wonderful songs. Lyrics are all fantastic. Simple but hold so much meaning.

    27. Ayreon
    Gets old after while.

    28. Mastodon
They're pretty good. Crack The Skye is such an overrated album it's ridiculous. Leviathan is great.

    29. Cynic
    Metal Gods!

    30. Tom Waits
    Absolute genius!

    31. maudlin of the Well
Fucking insane band. Toby Driver is a genius.

    32. Mindless Self Indulgence
Yeah I considered myself daring for listening to a band like this. They still have a few classics but I don't really listen to them anymore.

    33. Modest Mouse
Have some great songs but as albums go they tend to fade with time.

    34. John Carpenter
    Only around Halloween

    35. Scarling.
They are great...I haven't listened to them in a long time now

    36. Guns N' Roses
    Meh.

    37. Shpongle
Should be as high as Infected Mushroom. Great music.

    38. Porcupine Tree
I haven't really listened to many albums by them. I love Deadwing and Lightbulb Sun but most of the other stuff I've checked out is pretty boring.

    39. Astronautalis
Amazing artist. SpielenBarrel Jumping (A Man Of Letters), The Waterfall and SpielenThe Story of My Life all have got to be some of the greatest songs I've heard.

    40. Thousand Foot Krutch
    Generic Christian Rock

    41. System of a Down
    Such a faux pas

    42. Vader
They won't be relevant in a couple of months

    43. Have a Nice Life
Great album. Great bootleg demo album but recently I'm not feeling what I felt when I first listened months ago.

    44. ASHES dIVIDE
Wow something completely shot out of my life.

    45. Gojira
Metal that doesn't get boring. Great drumming also.

    46. J.Viewz
Local New York band. Chill out album. So great.

    47. Unwound
Leaves Turn Inside You is so great but like Have a Nice Life I think I'm growing out of this depressing shit.

    48. Dane Cook
Why did I have him to begin with? =(

    49. Bill Conti
Short lived Rocky soundtrack addiction. Still great but not something meant for heavy listening.

    50. Black Light Burns
I kind of forced myself to like them. They suck. Only New Hunger, Cruel Melody and Lucretia My Reflection are good.

Final Verdict: Only 23 out of 50 artist I am satisfied with =(
