Let's just call it what it is, a work of genius. I also agree that should expand their GB play: how about Incipit Vita Nova for a change?

Can I hear harpsicord & brass too? Is this the correct stream? Anyone got the CD? @dharmanaut -Yes I'm glad I've heard the TW track (a few times) but I don't play it any more. There are quite a few other GB tracks which get overlooked while lastfm seems to favour playing us 'Tramp with Orchestra' :

there is a recording in 6 parts that includes tom waits that is, if it could be imagined, even more haunting, perhaps dislocating it from the ambient to some other sphere. i recommend it as a listening exercise. emotion, sometimes powerful, washes over you.

I really loved this song but started to go a Mad after about 10mins, I belive that this is used as form of brain washing technique!

to me the only version is this 27min- version: Tramp with Orchestra I (string quartet). probably my favorite song of all time. i remember first hearing this as a child in east germany behind the iron courtain at night in bed under the covers. and after about 10 minutes i finally started recording it, thank goodness. still have this very bad recording, and never will give it away. thank you gavin and all the people who made this,THANK YOU!

wonderfully repetitive like a loving mother's lullaby that won't stop until we are safely asleep.

No puedo explicar lo que sentí cuando escuché por primera vez esta canción. Poco a poco me fue envolviendo su ritmo y su letra monótona; una de las canciones más bellas que he escuchado ultimamente.

Normally I find this sort of thing gimmicky and redundant - this is a notable exception. Flawlessly executed, there is power to the repetition & simple melody line; there is a tacit morality - both hopeful and sad.... Beautiful

Simple, unaffected singing is such a rarity. Funny how a homeless man puts to shame all but a few 'successful' vocalists.
