11. Mär. 2007, 18:06 von MrModernRockAfter watching Black Snake Moan this past Thursday afternoon and hearing Samuel L. Jackson’s mother-fucking rendition of Stack O Lee, I became interested in just exactly who this Stagger Lee man was. I knew The Black Keys had done a song about him, which was loosely based on Bob Dylan’s Stack A Lee, but that’s all I knew. Good ol Wikipedia and Google to the rescue though. I discovered that these three versions were almost 1/100th of the number of songs about this O.G. and that the songs are undoubtedly the greatest song tradition in music. The story is relatively simple. Stagger Lee and Billy Lyons are gambling. Billy takes Stagger’s Stetson hat. Stagger demands it back. Billy denies. Stagger shoots Billy and gets his hat back. I’m sure this has happened a million times if it its happened once, but for some reason Stack O’Lee has evolved into a folklore anti-hero, badass motherfucker due to these songs almost to the point where one automatically thinks the man never existed but is only a fictional historical figure. …

The song title is the answer.
The next time you stand up in front of a group of people, you'll say:
Yeah, cos I'm gonna say that...(eh?)
Your favorite thing to say when drunk is:
Song: The Last Time
Artist: The Rolling Stones
Talking about the last time you were drunk? Yeah, that works, I guess.
Your message to the world:
Artist: Robert Miles
I had no idea I even owned a copy of this song (brings back some memories), but I wouldn't say that "Children" is my message to the world. Although, if there were no children, the human race would end, so I might have been being really deep, there. =P "I believe that children are the fuutuuuure!! Teach them well and let them lead the waaay!"
Your deepest secret:
Song: Gettin' High
Artist: Ian Brown
I haven't actually gotten high for ages. But I suppose it's a bit of a secret, yeah.
