to shoulderangel: If you're seeking authentic and biblical songwriters, also check out the work of Rich Mullins, Billy Crockett, Charlie Peacock, and Mark Heard. (I'll second schleichface's recommendation of Keith Green.)

Fernando is like an old family friend. When my family needs a calm in the storm and a reminder that our God is still on the throne, Fernando get played. Even my 15 year old son who is in to MUCH heavier music keeps Mr. Ortega on his iPod.

When our oldest son past away , I found one of Fernando's song on ShadowMountion sunday service! It was a song about a light house, so comforting, I love his music!

Oh yes, give Sarah Groves a listen. Also, Watermark, Jenny Owens, Ana Laura, Jill Paquette and Caedmons Call. There are many others this is a very good time to be a believer and a music lover!

Also, in a less explicitly religious vein, check out the Innocence Mission (www.theinnocencemission.com/). They're here on last.fm, too.

to shoulderangel: You can't go wrong with Jesus music! In particular I recommend Honeytree, Keith Green, and The All Saved Freak Band. The last of these may be a little on the freaky tip for you, but trust me they're GOOD. You can find out more at http://www.honeytree.org/ http://www.lastdaysministries.org/Groups/1000008644/Last_Days_Ministries/Keith_Green.aspx http://www.allsavedfreakband.com/ http://one-way.org/jesusmusic/index.html

(in belated answer to notanatheist): Hymns & Meditations is good for all the reasons that Hymns of Worship is. Same for Meditations of the Heart, but that's an instrumental: all just piano, nothing else, and it's simply wonderful. Storm is a magnificent album, a mixture of religious and spiritually minded non-religious songs. All of that album is great, but City of Sorrows especially left me breathless.

Fernando Ortega is the ONLY fairly popular Christian artist that I know of whose music is edifying and Biblical and not simply intended to sell a record. It is such a blessing to listen to music that glorifies God! Does anyone know of other Godly Christian musicians?

This Good Day is such a nice, lovely song. I should listen to it every day when I wake up to get my mind in the right mood.

What albums do other listeners have? I own Breaking of the Dawn and Hymns of Worship both of which are incredible. I'd be interesting in knowing what others think of any of the other albums.

i can't imagine a world without fernando. he's been so instrumental in my walk with the Lord, that a world without fernando would seem barren and void. he's uh-mazing.
