Tue 19 Jun – Fear Factory

I've been listening to Fear Factory for about 14 years and finally got the chance to see them live and it was a fucking bomb. I'm not an avid concert attendant, but I've seen my share of gigs in Latvia and I've never saw our small latvian crowd at Melnā Piektdiena to be so alive and aware of the lyrics - that alone was awesome!

Now I'm at my work, hearing is partially lost, head is not supported by the neck anymore - rather by hands and my throat is a little bit sore. Considering the growling and shouting involved I kind of wonder that the consequences are so mild. And yup, here's the hangover too! To sum things up - awesome, very energetic and HQ performance from Fear Factory and from the support too - kudos to Forgotten Tears, must check them out!

FF played a selection of their fast-paced material (from The Industrialist too!) and Replica was the closing song. I missed Resurrection though!

Its been SO long since I went to a concert, I honestly think its been close to a year. So few bands I enjoy come to Winnipeg that I miss the opportunities. Almost went to Frontline Assembly a few months back but that got cancelled 2 days before the concert b/c their bus broke down.

Anyways back to topic -
Fear Factory, Hypocrisy, Decapitated and Suffocation.

Im by no means big on metal and I went to this solely for Fear Factory, but overall it was what I was expecting. However the lead singer for Suffocation annoyed the living crap out of me with his air guitar and constant hand gesture (I use the non plural form since it was the same gesture at least 50 times)

Fear Factory played a nice variety from their library just sadly none of their slower songs which I really enjoy, but I wasnt expecting that to occur anyway.

Im bored so I typed this out :) Id print out a tracklist but Im too lazy, offhand I remember in no particular order:

I’ve been on last.fm now for about a week and a half. Somehow, this is only my first entry. Intriguing, since I write in my blog every day, sometimes quite more frequently. I suppose entries about something as important as music take more time to formulate. After all, I can rant about something mundane and laugh at it later. When discussing music, I want to get it right.

Either way, those who find my ramblings worth reading can expect a weekly overview of my musical voyage. One of those is coming tonight or tomorrow. Right now I want to talk about a couple of musical items that have seriously hit home with me today.

I never get an entire band’s discography at once. I find that if I do, I love the first couple of albums then get burned out. So I only, ahem, acquire two or three at most, listen to them for a while, and if I like them I’ll hunt down another two or three. Repeat this process until I have everything a specific artist or group has put out. …
