• Lose That Phat

    7. Feb. 2007, 10:59 von onephatdj

January is that time of the year when we’re all bummed out having “enjoyed” the holiday period with a little over indulgence, put on a few extra pounds and running low on funds so there’s not much left to do than try to lose those pounds with some free exercise. Well, I felt I could help here and put together a great work out mix for all you fitness freaks to exercise to. I’m sure many of you have already given up after a few weeks but there’s nothing stopping you from just putting the mix on and enjoying some of the latest funky house.

So here it is - it’s time to Lose That Phat.

    01. Pepper Mashay - Pray For Tomorrow (Central Avenues Main Mix)

Let’s kick off the new year and a new mix with something a little slower. It’s still going to be moving along at about 128 bpm (nice and fast for all those trying to burn energy) but we’ll break you in slowly with some mellow vocals from Pepper Mashay, accompanied with the familiar funky sounds we’re all used to by now.

    02. Muzzaik pres URH ft Zaida - Work It (Original)

  • Singles Released 4th September 2006

Cross-posted with my new blog Shotgun, Bastard and Dribble where you can pick up a couple of mp3s.

Get your disco dancing roller skates on this week. Initial hatred of this week's releases by The Scissor Sisters, Robbie Williams and The Rapture has subsided into genial acceptance and even enjoyment. Perhaps understandable with the campy goodtime vibes of Don't Feel Like Dancin' (if Elton John keeps hanging out with the Scissor Sisters people are going to start thinking he's gay) and the funky Get Myself Into It but surely unforgivable in the case of the universally panned Rudebox. I disagree. It's about time he rediscovered his fun side after an interminable run of dull singles. Even if Rudebox is a considerable distance from Kids it bodes well for future renaissance.

No such change in fortune for Nelly Furtado's increasingly desperate attempts to convince us all she's a total slut, Dennis Christopher (friend of the dancing midget Michael Jackson fronted Beatfreakz) attempt to convince…
  • With A Twist

Time to turn your speakers up! One Phat DJ is back with you yet again with another collection of funky house tunes for you to getting dancing to, singing along to – whatever takes your fancy.

This month is taking a bit more of a twisted vibe with some more clubby tracks than normal. Never fear – its still full of funk and should keep you going for the full hour and a quarter whether you’re playing at a party or warming up for a night out. I’ve put this mix together for an upcoming party (it’ll give me an hours break) so let me know what you’re doing with your copy.

    Commence tracklistings...

    1. Teamsters – Feels Like Love (Vocal Extended)

We kick off the mix with a tune with plenty of strings and a catchy sing-a-long chorus from the Danish boys also known as Morjac. With support from (who have a history for backing HUGE summer tracks), be on the look out for these guys over the coming months.

    2. Michael Gray – [track]Borderline[/track] (Vocal Club Mix)

  • Looking After The Pennies (And The Repercussion)

    7. Aug. 2006, 10:29 von Mr_Fran

Good morning pop-pickers, it's another week!

This weekend was the fantastic Dpercussion festival which, for the unknowing, is a free festival in M'cr City Centre. Actually this year they were asking for a £2 donation, but that didnt deter the 50 or so thousand people that descended on Castlefield. Their was loooads goin on, so Mr Fran had to fucking leg it from work to make the most of it. And the best of it? The Pipettes looked like they were really enjoying themselves, which only adds to the fun of the performance. The Longcut aren't as good outdoors as they are in, but they resurrected their cover of You Got The Love and played the favourites to positive end. Best of the day had to be The Whip headlining the second stage. How to make them even better than they are? Turn them up really loud, stand by the speakers and throw in some daylight strobes and you got it goin on!

Now with FRANSFUNFESTIVALWEEK almost in sight, saving money is the name of the game for the next week. …
