I first learned of Wilcox more than ten years ago from an issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine. I picked up one of his recordings and fell in love with the music. I continue to return to his work because of the quality of the songs. Thanks, Mr. Wilcox, for all the hard work and love poured into your music.

Hey, I posted a live David Wilcox (the American) radio set from 20 years ago on my blog. It's the oldest live bootleg of David Wilcox that I know of:

If you're listening to Canadian David Wilcox like me, this is not the picture of him. Vote for the others.

I like them both. What's remarkable is that they're both in the same "folk" camp (the Canadian David Wilcox got his start playing in Ian and Sylvia's band) and yet they're so very different stylistically. The Canadian David Wilcox is known more for his guitar playing (but he also writes songs) while the American one is known more for his songwriting (but he's also a fine guitar player).

Unfortunately, doesn't seem to care if there are 2 artists with the same name! We at the David Wilcox (American) camp have been trying to sort this out but not getting much help from We will continue to work on it.

This is truly annoying. The photo is of the wrong guy, but the music seems almost right. Could someone fix this, please.

Whoops -- I meant the "U.S." DW. Sorry for the co-optation of the entire pair of continents... I read "American" and repeated it. (I do know the difference.)

I listened to the American DW in concert last night. And my heart is full. Sweet voice, sublime guitar, yearning heart. A good man with a good soul whose talent is delivered for the sake of connection to the bigger picture. It works.

I love how all these people on this page claim they love the Canadian David more than the American one (the latter of which I prefer) and most of this page is about the latter. Whatever.

This is one of those awkward cases where there's two artists with the exact same name...Layin' Pipe and Last Chance Waltz were not recorded by the same David Wilcox. (I guess that should go into the artist description...)
