Ah tinker277...the debate will always be there. Lets leave at this, the five of them (and I will include Sid) gave us all some of the BEST music to ever be composed. It was a joint effort of them all, it had to be. Yes they all have had solo stuff and in my opinion it is all good. Roger has had some very good solo stuff also. Just sit back, light one and enjoy. ROCK ON FLOYD NO ONE COMPARES.
..and yes I did see Waters in Chicago this Fall on his "wall" tour and while it was a pretty good show i left there thinking how long is this guy gonna ride that one thing in his life that can be called greatness? The wall conceptually was just that "Genius" but without Gilmour's songs it would have just been a blur of madness and inconceivable blabber and to see him perform it well lets just say it was definatley lacking something. he has not ever had a successful tour unless it was with Pink Floyd or performing "The Wall". Gilmour on the other hand has had several solo tours which I have had the pleasure of seeing him solo twice and I have to tell you "simply amazing".
Richard Wright an understated genius in his own right...RIP....David Gilmour, in my opinion the Greatest musician of all time, throw in Nick Mason keeping it all together and you have the greatest band ever formed and yes waters was left out on purpose because while I will give him due for being a pioneer for what would become the worlds best he himself can't hold a flame to what the others have accomplished as a band and as solo acts, I challenge anybody to state anything that Waters did solo that can stand up to Gilmours genius as a songwriter and performer. There is a reason Floyd could go on without Waters and would have died without Gilmour.
