Horrible. Everything is horrible in this version, the tempo, the ridiculous guitar solo, Bowie's voice, the silly gospel choir and the terrible production (and I usually repsect Bowie).

Come off chaps, this is no good. He's clearly taking the piss. Moz's original is miles more heartwrought, emotional and... better!

I absolutely love Morrissey but sometimes when he sings, he sounds like a moaning boy. Bowie takes this song and sings it like a man in pain.

Bowie's isn't nearly as good as the original (and I heard Bowie's version first)... It was Morrissey's attempt at a 'Rock 'n' Roll Suicide'-type number and Bowie said his reworking was more how he would approach the song. Which is ironic as he decided to play it in 4/4 and remove the outro which is identical to that of RnR Suicide. One of the better token Bowie covers, though.

Now I've heard Morrissey's, I think this is much better.

I've heard a live version of Morrissey's version of the song, but not the studio one. Either way, it's a beautifully written song, and Bowie's take on it is especially powerful.

Haven't heard Morrissey's version, but usually Bowie makes the covers better than the originals. I love the echoing here <3

Don't know about Moz' version. But Bowie delivers, as always.

the live version of morrissey's version is even better than the original, in my opinion. i haven't even heard the bowie version, been looking for it everywhere...

I've listened recently - just both versions one after each other - it seemed that having heard author's later, I'll never be able to appreciate it. It just sounds poorer and less painted to my ears - though it is clearly more religious.
