Biografie

Conor Mullen Oberst (* 15. Februar 1980 in Omaha, Nebraska) ist ein US-amerikanischer Musiker. Er gründete 1997 das Ein-Mann-Band-Projekt Bright Eyes und ist damit mittlerweile in Nordamerika sowie in Europa eine angesehene Größe im Indie- und Alternative-Sektor.

Conor Oberst begann mit 13 Jahren Musik zu machen. Seinen ersten Song nahm er laut eigener Angabe mit einem Kinderkassettenrekorder und einer Akustikgitarre auf. Im gleichen Jahr gründete er mit seinem Bruder Justin zusammen das Label Lumberjack Records, heute bekannt als Saddle Creek.

1995 bis 1997 spielte er als Gitarrist und Sänger bei Commander Venus. 1996 begann Conor Oberst bei den magnetas und wurde in diesem Jahr auch Mitglied bei Park Ave, bei denen er am Schlagzeug saß. Mit 17 wurde er bereits hauptberuflicher Musiker. Mittlerweile bindet er auch ein komplettes Orchester oder Gastmusiker wie die Country-Sängerin Emmylou Harris in seine Aufnahmen ein.

Er war auch Sänger der 2004 aufgelösten Band Desaparecidos, die emolastigen Indierock spielte und die punkige Seite dieses Musikers zum Vorschein brachte.

    according to conor oberst, it IS a solo ablum, and not his ONLY solo album at that. there are many differences between his solo work and the mvb. for starters, conor is the only one singing in his solo album, which is not true for the mvb. conor's music in his solo album is also much more lovey-dovey and sweet, like bright eyes, where as the mvb isn't. conor came up with the music and the lyrics for his solo work, where as everyone in the band helped out with the music and lyrics for the mvb. bright eyes is like his solo album because it's all conor with the help of other people with ONLY playing instruments for the music HE came up with, the mvb isn't like bright eyes because it's a collaborative work, NOT only conor's ideas.
