What Is George Thorogood Saying About His New Album “2120 South Michigan Ave”? –…

Ask George Thorogood & The Destroyers why he did a new album full of blues standards, and he’ll give you a thousand reasons why he’s not qualified to play the blues. And all of them are nonsense. Though he considers himself strictly a rock guy, Thorogood has considerable blues credentials and keeps finding himself involved in blues-related projects (including sharing the stage with the legendary Bo Diddly). His new album 2121 South Michigan Ave plays homage to some of the greats, with covers of tunes by Chuck Berry, Willy Dixon, Muddy Waters and more. It’s already hit #2 on the Billboard blues chart, so protest as he might, George Thorogood is now officially a “blues man.”

The Beatles - Revolver

At time of writing, my album charts are broken, so that seems like a good excuse to write about a band who have no playable tracks on last.fm. I have decided to pick the undisputed greatest pop band of all time. Of course this presents me with a challenge as a writer. Since numerous writers have already documented every nuance of their career.
I think my best bet is to document my personal contemporary memories, which although garbled, and necessarily childish, are at least unique to me. I can point out a few titbits of objective fact along the way, like a tour guide pointing through the windows of the bus at the rapidly passing scenery.
My first Beatles memory is she loves you. My great uncle, Barney, worked for a firm that provided juke boxes and pinball machines to pubs. Consequently he had access to all the latest hit singles. However, since his taste in music was almost entirely classical, he often missed their significance. … -

Zdecydowane zaskoczenie; kto by się spodziewał Plażowych Chłopców tak wcześnie? Zaczynam pomału rozumieć, kiedy słyszę znajome I may not always love you....
Ciekawa płyta. Tekstowo, między innymi. (Chociaż God only knows, dlaczego aż tak wysoko.)

Songs for America !
1. Jul. 2011, 12:36 von ACKthehack
Freedom comes sprouted whole from the head of it from the barrel of our pointed gun. The blood comes from the cut of the independence that we started to think about right before the indentured servants and slaves in bonds interrupted the conversation to bring us our dinner.
Yet, here we are the great contrast of images arms out to welcome the huddled masses until we get scared and pass the immigration laws all over again like we did before again and again. The Circle truly is Unbroken. This time its the Poles and the Irish mad about the Latinos like the good protestant native borns got upset about them. Fuck all its their turn. Everyone gets a turn you know. But here we are.
We save the world to open the door to its nuclear destruction. We are the ideals that we ourselves hold everyone else up to that we ourselves can never seem to live up to. Still, here we are.
We want everyone to be free until the CIA helps the military to overthrow their government. … -

The joys of Solipsism
4. Mai. 2011, 0:17 von JakobVirgil
I was in the grocery and I noticed that I recognized none of the celebrities on the magazines. It was like being in Canada or Belgium everyone on the covers looked beautiful and famous but I did not know who any of them were.
so I went to the music magazine section knowing as a music guy I would know at least some of them I was not disappointed Dave Grohl was on the cover of half of them but he has not been in a good band for at least 15 years. This put me in to a reflective mood
“am I an insufferable hipster snob?”
I was called a hipster just the other day.
but since I am pleasantly plump, don't own a hat and have never liked anthing ironically I rejected that theory.
The little asshole of a voice in the back of my head piped in with "it is because you are old."
of course I told that voice where he could shove it. and came up with a novel theory of my own.
I am the center of the universe.
well not really ,the universe does not technically have one center in fact…
