They didn't abandon anything. The album didn't capture the sound they wanted with the producer they had.

The production is great - it's by the same guy who did Nirvana's In Utero.

THIS "It's too bad they abandoned the sound of this album for the cookie-cutter, formulaic sound of the last 3 albums. This is by far their best album, nothing else comes close."

This album shows great potential of a band at the beginning of its musical journey. Their music got much better as the albums go by. Great production for a debut (raw and uncompromising). Overall nowhere near their best, still an intriguing, trippy and rewarding record.

I do like how this is the most unique record of Chevelle's, but, I don't like the music.

This is the only Chevelle that i hear any Tool influence at all. Pre-Aenima Tool.

I agree with thinspirits77 although each album has a few gems, Point #1 will always be their best.

I would be at liberty to agree with thinspirit77 verbatim. The only Chevelle worth anything.
