Über dieses Lied

Dieses Stück – bei dem den Koran betende algerische Mönche gesampelt wurden – verschwand auf Anraten muslimischer Organisationen auf späteren Veröffentlichungen des Albums „My Life in the Bush of Ghosts“. Auf der ersten Vinyl-LP war es das sechste Stück, nach „The Jezebel Spirit“.

“We made a big effort to try and clear all the voices, and make sure everybody was okay with everything. Because we thought, ‘We’re going to get accused of all kinds of things, and so we want to cover our asses as best we can.’ So I think in that sense we reacted maybe with more caution than we had to. But that’s the way it was.”

::David Byrne interviewed by Chris Dahlen for Pitchfork::

Brian Eno looks like a cross between Gary Cohen and Patrick Stewart.

Byrne just said that an Islamic group in London told them they found it offensive, nothing about death threats.

I think they should have put this track on the remaster, put it on there six or seven times in fact, and have Eno come in at the end and say that all the haters can suck large chode.

There are other theories that the rights to the lyrics do not belong to the artists and they were unable to acquire them. Although the album was released without consent to most of the sampled lyrics (a time prior to the strengthening of copyrights).

With Muslim extremist threatening to kill Artists I am not surprised. They did not want to offend.

i'm curious as to why this track wasn't even mentioned as ever existing in the 2006 re-issue.
