The band was formed in 2003, releasing several demos and going through various name changes over the next few years (most notably as RoseCrance). In 2007, under the name Born Of Osiris, they signed to Sumerian Records and finished recording their first full-length album entitled The New Reign which was released on October 2, 2007. They have toured alongside artists such as Beneath the Massacre, As Blood Runs Black, Winds of Plague, See You Next Tuesday, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza and Veil of Maya.
In June/July 2008, they will be taking part in the 2008 Summer Slaughter tour with The Black Dahlia Murder, Kataklysm, Vader, Cryptopsy, Despised Icon, The Faceless, Aborted, Psycroptic, and Whitechapel
Breakdown-overloaded metalcore has saturated the heavy-metal market in recent years, and new releases increasingly sound like mundane imitations of other records. To make something memorable in 2011, a band must go beyond the same sound everyone else is producing—or at least do it much better.
Illinois tech-deathcore sextet Born of Osiris tries to do both on their latest record, The Discovery (2011), and end up pulling the mission off with considerable success. Their third full-length finds the band sharpening its virtuosic skills and adding more melody in guitar riffs and keyboard fills. The synthesis of technical breakdowns, eerie synth noises, shredding solos, and stuttering guitar riffs make for some really kickass music.

I feel as though, even if Jason hadn't left the band, all of that aside, they will never write another album as good as The Discovery. Not so much through their own fault so much as it is that there's really just nowhere left to go. The Discovery is a perfect album. Just the right balance of brutality and melody, the electronic and keyboard elements only fitting in exactly where they belong, the way the whole album flows and feels start to finish, everything about the album is just the way it needs to be, and I really think that The Discovery is their peak. Not through their own capabilities, but through the capabilities of the genre itself not really allowing much room for growth and progression beyond what they've already reached.
