I've listened to a hell of a lot of new music this year. Looking back, it seems to be fairly evenly split between new albums, and older ones I've only discovered this year. For this list I'm focusing on releases within 2005 (and maybe a few from the last months of 2004). I'm not very good at doing lists like this, as I find music isn't quantifiable enough to be listed in a better or worse chart. However I've tried to go with gut instinct; for albums that have had a bigger impact on my life, and often helped to develop my own tastes in what I want out of music, as a listener and performer.
So without further ado, Duncan's Favourite albums of 2005:
- The Understanding
Röyksopp took a lot of stick for this album, a big deviation in terms of style from Melody AM. Darker and more suited to clubs, this undeniably doesn’t have the same consistency as their earlier effort, some of the tracks sounding distinctly average. However it did have individual tracks that could rival anything they have done before…
