  • Listen to Mix 2011-11-20 - Slow and Dark

    3. Dez. 2011, 21:47 von colin_zr

Since looking at Mixcloud a few weeks ago I've been thinking of making a series of mixes. I've had a stab at doing a few of them now, with the guiding philosophy that there should be something that unites the musical choices, though not strictly that they all fit into one genre. Here's my first effort, very loosely based around a theme of darkwave but venturing into other genres as well: http://www.mixcloud.com/czrobertson/2011-11-20-slow-and-dark/

    Here's the playlist:

    00:00 - 04:25: Eduard Artemiev - Stalker: Train
04:25 - 08:09: Ordo Equilibrio - Under the Rose, Coitus Excelsi. Pain, Bondage and Subjugation.
08:09 - 15:41: Lycia - The Morning Breaks So Cold And Gray
    15:41 - 19:59: Insomnis - Farther Away
    19:59 - 24:10: Elhaz - Glory
    24:10 - 29:31: Peter Bjärgo - A Wave Of Bitterness
    29:31 - 33:43: black tape for a blue girl - Given
    33:43 - 37:37: Cocteau Twins - Otterley

  • In Response To Some Comments Made on a Black Tape For A Blue Girl photo...

    1. Aug. 2011, 19:25 von Neferast

I'd like to address the Harsh comments regarding this photo of
black tape for a blue girl
    http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/500/52563311/Black+Tape+for+a+Blue+Girl+Band2010w.jpg

Dear Gothlings who wrote such Silly comments,

black tape for a blue girl have been goth, moreover darkwave, longer than most of you have been alive. I've known Sam since '96. We eldergoths do what we pleaae. We've earned that privilege.

Short hair and Black Suits were standard attire for many (attributed) Original Goths (males). Chains, wild hair, most sharp metals and ripped attire didn't come into the picture until years later.

You do know who Peter Murphy is.. Yes?

How about Robert Smith? When he wears his hair short and doesn't 'tease' it up, he often wears the SAME short cut.

  • Looking for Albums - Imput Requested

    23. Mär. 2011, 23:06 von prominence_la

So, it probably goes without saying that I'm passionate about music. I've currently got a running wish list of 100+ CDs that I intend to buy (or download, as a last resort). But, I've also got a few bands on my list that I really want to get into, yet don't know where to start. I don't know if this is the best way of going about it, but we'll just see which among you responds, eh?

For each of these bands, I'm looking for at least one definitive studio album. As in, if I could only have one album from , it would be . I'm more interested in studio albums - I feel like they're a better testament of the band's artistic vision/talent than third-party/retrospectively-arranged compilations - but I'm open to all suggestions.

And, please - if you think EVERY album from a band is essential, don't hesitate to say so! (I think, for instance, I'll eventually track down every Police album, even though I've had Every Breath you take for ages.) On the flip side…

  • The music I can't understand nor label

    4. Aug. 2010, 2:29 von kurohime

This is me once again trying to define musical genres, especially the ones that are in some way called dark.

My interest in melancholic, somber, and even tragic tunes has grown since childhood. On Last.fm I look for music that fits this taste of mine, but I noticed I do not perform an specific search for one simple reason: I can't easily label music. This difficulty may be explained by the fact that many bands mix different kinds of music together, being it hard to define what is purely post-punk, gothic rock, new wave, darkwave, ethereal, cold wave (coldwave)...

I wish I could understand this better.

Modernum Decadentia Oppositorum, Gargula Valzer, Igreja Do Sexo, Dead Roses Garden, excisio, a industrya, Última Dança, Almas Mortas, In Auroram, Elegia, Der Kalte Stern, Luiza Fria, Cabine C, Maldita, Arte No Escuro, Lupercais, Lucca Kosta, Plastique Noir, Bells of Soul, Days Are Nights, The Knutz, Lokasenna IOC, Effets Secondaires, Fasci Di Combattimento, Art Abscons, Chronique Nocturne…
