Biografie

William Melvin Hicks (* 16. Dezember 1961 in Valdosta, Georgia; † 26.

I had some great time on drugs!“). Dieses selbstzerstörerische Verhalten ändert den Ton von Hicks’ Shows: Er wird rauher, Publikumsbeschimpfung („By the way, if anyone here is in advertising or marketing…kill yourself. Kill yourselves, seriously. You’re the ruiner of all things good. Seriously, no, this is not a joke. „There’s gonna be a joke coming…“ There’s no fucking joke coming, you are Satan’s spawn, filling the world with bile and garbage, you are fucked and you are fucking us, kill yourselves, it’s the only way to save your fucking soul.

v I get what you are saying, there are some truth behind your words. He was a flawed man for sure, who didn't seem to enjoy life that much, especially towards to the end (Understandably). But reducing him to a mysogynist rock 'n' roll stereotype who just wants things his way, is dead wrong.

Boubou: the way I feel about it is as long as it's anything outside of standup comedy, I'll not raise a word. I liked the "Rescue Me" series and even one or two of his movies; but as a comic, I'll never be able to respect him or take him seriously. He ruined that. As for the rest, though, he does deserve credit for being a big part of why "Rescue Me" was such a good series. He and Tolan should always collaborate--they're a great team.

I believe that Leary stole the material but can't care about it. If you judge Leary by that then choke on someting. he has done a lot of interesting things since that and they deserve recognition. It is boring to repeat the stealing - he might be a thief, but still an interesting person. "No cure for cancer" doesn't sound anything like Hicks to me, just annoying and obtrusive. Disgusting energy that I don't need. (everybody doing drugs in the 80s having fun, yay, I guess) Hicks had the right to snub him, but still... boring to hear Leary hatred from 20 year old Hicks fanatics.

There is a reason why Hicks and Learys friendship ended after 'No Cure for Cancer' was released in 93.. There is no doubt that Leary stole some of his routines, and not even just that, his persona and attitude as well. If you shamelesly steal from Hicks you are asking for it. Leary is a washed up douche, and Hicks is a legend. And for a good reason.
