Dienstag AbendAt least one person actually explained why they liked Colors rather than just saying "No way I thought it was good." Kudos to you, MyOwnPlanet, I don't agree with your opinion but at least I can respect it. I agree with shaunt91 more. When they delve into other genres on every other album, they make it flow. Colors was too forced, in my opinion, and was waaaaay too pretentious for me.
-
MyOwnPlanet schrieb:
Dienstag AbendAnd oh, of course it's a not perfect album. Like shuant91 said, some parts we can easy notice that they intented to sound original, different. Like Tommy's lyrics dynamic or that polka hoedown on Ants of the Sky (maybe digging a little bit I can found some explanation for that, but for now I found it pretty random). But yeah, overall is an amazing album.
-
MyOwnPlanet schrieb:
Dienstag AbendNo, not at all. Colors is based on concept and them instrumentation. To be honest, I think Colors is the less wankery of all albums. They were clearly pretentious, but also clearly reached what they wanted. Summarizing, Colors is an amazing introspective journey, that has it's apex on Sun Of Nothing, which describes an epiphany like I've never seen before.

shaunt91 schrieb:
Dienstag AbendThere are parts of colors which are just there to include as many genres as possible and don't flow very well but the majority of it I enjoy.

ibreatheoxygen schrieb:
Dienstag AbendDon't get me wrong, it's not like I thought Colors was a piece of shit; it was just so mediocre. I could clearly see what they were trying to do, but it failed, and I think The Great Misdirect tried something similar and actually pulled it off successfully. Colors was just trying way too hard. Really, anybody who argues that it's the most important metal album of the last 10 years though... well I can see why they'd have the name retardedcore, let's just put it that way.
-
ibreatheoxygen schrieb:
Dienstag AbendMost important metal album of the last 10 years was Mastodon's Leviathan, hands down. Secondly, even if BTBAM had made the most important metal album of the last 10 years, it wouldn't be Colors, it would be Alaska, which is far superior in every way. If you like pretentious noodling that goes all over the place while really going nowhere with no focus on songwriting but only on musicianship and trying unsuccessfully to be as "progressive" as possible, go listen to Dream Theater. I'm tired of hearing people try to say how groundbreaking Colors was when really it's not a good album no matter how you break it down (unless you're looking strictly at musicianship).
