I have a friend who is an actual genius (writes non-fiction short stories and produces short films and tracks to go with his poems), never married, born into wealth and is always on the same intellectual wavelength as my TrueLove in music, literature, films and politics. My TrueLove is not educated or rich but knows what he likes and devotes himself to things that are special to him and makes him happy. Our genius friend is the same so when they are together discussing Franz Kafka or Brian Eno, I tend to just listen. But one evening after hours of their intense discussions and listening to Baker's new poetry art they were quiet, spent. I asked Baker if he had heard of Beth Orton (yes) and his opinion (none). I put a CD of hers on the player and borrowed books & CD's and saw him again many months later when he rushed to me first (instead of going to my TrueLove) and thanked me more than once for bringing Beth Orton to his music listens. She is special, that I know.
