It's not your speakers. You've got the wrong songs. The Golden Feelings version is strumming and plain acoustic. While the A Western Harvest Field By Moonlight version is picking and much more produced, with drums and violin. It also has an extra verse that the Golden Feelings version doesn't have. The version on Stray Blues is the same as A Western Harvest Field By Moonlight. And there's another version on Fresh Meat & Old Slabs, which is the same as Golden Feelings but slowed down. It's all very confusing but all of them are great.
Love this! Although I'm in awe of his music, I wish he would swap his post-modern clunk (The Information to name one!) with this pure, folkish guitar playing! I only discovered this recently and I haven't been able to stop - the majority of his B-sides are worth a listen!
