Biografie

Melbourne, Australien (2004 – aktuell)

(www.metalstorm.ee)

"Of Breath and Bone" is like Insomnium, Pt. 2. Not that I mind, that sound is amazing.

"Outlive the Hand" - my fave track off "Stone's reach". Good melodies also on "Husks"

Well, we cannot judge them before the 4th album - even if they do some cleans on forthcoming cd (and I doubt there would be much cleans (if any) since they're only using growls), that might be good; maybe George can sing as good as he growls.

disagree completely with this dweeb, less keyboards + clean vocals = the way forward. [2] they are fine as they are - with heaviness, melodic melancholy and complexity perfectly blended together. please, please guys, stay away from cheesy clean vocals and prominent piano playing!

The new record reminds me of Insomnium but it's not a bad thing. Not so much ripping off riffs as it is a similarity in styles. Really digging the melodies.

I actually really like Be'lakor's vocals -- I think it helps that I find the lyrics awesome too. I wouldn't mind if they were able to add some cleans into it while maintaining the aggression. The music is phenomenal, my only criticism is the near absence of keyboards. When they do come out in the mix it's absolutely brilliant, but most of the time I can't hear them at all =(.

cleans are fine, new insomnium is just insufferably boring

well, it's like the band growls on their every album then it's somewhat their trade mark, and when they start using cleans, people begin critisizing them.

Haven't really heard any recent Insomnium material, but what's wrong with cleans? As long as they're not like My Chemical Romance or something... (Or perhaps that was an addition to what I said about vocal styles perhaps needing to fit the type of music?)

v at least they don't use cleans, like Insomnium in some of their newest songs

Eh, there's nothing really tangible about it. It's not that they lack talent or anything, just personal preference. For me, growling is, let's say, a delicate form of art. They have to get it just right, and these guys simply don't do it for me. I can't put my finger on why it is so. I think Be'lakor's vocalist is the better of the two, though, especially on the new album. But who knows, it could depend on what style of music it accompanies. Perhaps Be'lakor's vocalist would sound a thousand times better to me if he was in Septic Flesh; perhaps I see growling as an instrument. Banjo wouldn't go well with doom metal. I'd love to hear Be'lakor with screaming.
