  • I'm bringing Toxxi back...

    25. Jan. 2007, 22:56 von Toxxi

I'm starting to wonder if I get this stoner rock shit. I mean, I love it and all! But am I really picking up on what everyone else is hearing? I only recently started looking over Dopethrone and whilst Vinuum Sabbathi, Funerapolis and We Hate You aren't without their massive qualities I still have a hard time comparing it as a whole to what the band "did" in Let Us Prey and what Bagshaw and Greening later went on to do with Ramesses. I wouldn't even dream of comparing it to Come My Fanatics, the album that some people I know have only just convinced themselves to put higher than the horrendously boring self-titled.

Then there's Iron Monkey! He's me touting Our Problem, Bad Year looking to knock A Bao A Qu off my top tracks topspot - I even found myself coming out with the line "This is Charlton Heston's floor, this is the greatest song in the world, Tenacious D played it to Satan at one point!" - I actually picked up a dottery issue of Metal Hammer boasting the history of stoner and sludge and even they put down the self-titled! The self-titled I've loathed up until only recently.

Or maybe I'm just the only one who gets all this and none of you - nor the artists themselves - understand what they're doing.

It'd sure make an assload of sense, especially with that "stoner" aspect put into perspective.

In a less dreary blabbering note, I had this daydream the other day where Radio4 presenters big up the Iron Monkey live album - you guys have heard Radio 4 right? UK residents will know how they love pushing the english language to its extremes. FUNNY THOUGHT IMAGINING THEM DOING SO WHILST DISCUSSING THE SMACK FUELLED ANTICS OF OUR NOTTINGHAM BOYS!

Oh yeah! This is a new journal entry, HI EVERYBUDDY!

    1. Atomsmasher (High, last.fm? Underline my text please...thanks!)
Atomsmasher is James PLotkin's ULTIMATE project until they got sued by some faggy britpop wannabe bunch of yankee wankers who do NOTHING AT ALL. As a result James Plotkin got incredibly depressed and released the considerably less spectacular Phantomsmasher - an album/band/Atomsmasher sequel that consisted of much more chiming guitars than mutilated childrens toys than the first. OH WELL! At least we still have Khanate!...wait...what?...THEY SPLIT UP?!

    2. Catherine Wheel
ACK if Nickelback were a Shoegaze they'd be these guys. Musically there's nothing go on here at all besides generic radio rock that doesn't get on the radio. SOMEHOW, who is it who decides what goes on and what doesn't? This could fit in just as well as Roadrunner's loan poseur metal band, follow closely by buddies Type O Negative and Dresdon Dolls. Dude, I was in HMV today, after about four hours of finding no CD's to my liking despite an Autechre album I hadn't heard, I chose to look in those little boxes they keep underneath the shelves. Much to my joy I found a copy of the latest Andrew Tucker album, half of which I'd enjoyed before it broke down into an ugly mess of digital skipping. Underneath the metal section I must've found a good 7 copies of Roadrunner united and at least 20 of the latest Audioslave album which isn't getting ANY MENTION AT ALL NOT EVEN BY THE FAUX-ASS DAD'S-WHO-ROCK TOSS POTS WHO'D USUALLY PUSH THIS ALBUM TO THE FINISHING LINE! I read some magazine bitching about a Soundgarden reunion, right now I'd just love a world without Audioslave! Audioslave not getting noticed isn't good enough because if they're still going that means they HAVEN'T GOTTEN THE MESSAGE YET. At least Catherine Wheel aren't as awful as those fags.

    3. Lorn
I listened to Lorn this week? Ho jesus I did! It's the new album which was horrificly boring as is almost any black metal you'll hear these days. I can't tell if it's worse than the first one I heard or if it's just a case that I over-rated the first when I heard it. Can you understand what I'm saying? I just read that last line back to myself and it fell right through my gut, about my digestive system, out my us and into the floor.

    4. OOIOO
Finally! Women stop bitching about how unfair being a woman is and finally contribute something to the world of arts and music that TOXXI can appreciate. Of course, the only place this would ever happen would be in that whacky ass country JAPAN. Surprisingly japanese sounding release from ex-Boredoms drummer's all girl jap group, even more of a surprise is it actually feels like proper music! It's like the first four tracks of chocolate synthesizer done better!

Has anyone else noticed whenever I have something positive to say about a band it usually digresses to bitching? Well you fags are better off with this than NOTHING. Let's face it, none of us enjoyed pop tatari, not really. Get OOIOO =D

    5. Paysage d'Hiver
I listened to Kristall and Isa and it was GOOD, I was genuinely impressed on first, second and THIRD listen. Third was in the new forest! had it on low whilst I walked through a clearing! I HOPE YOU'RE READING THIS BEVY! I'M ONE OF YOU NOW! I#m cutting this paragraph short lest I ramble on about where Pay sage here go right where all black metal ever EVER goes wrong.

    6. Sunn O))) & Boris
Seriously though, after listening to all that Thrones and baring in my Joe Pestron participated in this? I really do GET Akuma no Kuma. No lie!

That's a journal. I could do another one. It depends how shit this new Jesu EP is. POST TRAUMATIC STRESS CAUSES TOXXI'S JOURNAL DELAY, I AM CONSISTANT IN REALITY. YOU SAW HOW LONG I KEPT UP THAT WEEKLY SHIT YOU HAVE NOTHING YOU CAN HOLD AGAINST ME!

Except...I think I like Weightless...I think I really do like Weightless! In its own fractured, tunless way, that big epic drumming half way through and the fact it's the ONLY MEMORABLE SONG OFF THE WHOLE FUCKING ALBUM...I think I just might like it!

    Until next time, TOXXI'S BACK!
